Trail Mix Sandwiches

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2009
I did not really make the recipe as written, but I used it as inspiration. I took an oatmeal raisin Chewy brand granola bar and crumbled it up into little bits. Mixed that into the cream cheese, added a splash of lemon juice, and that spread was very very tasty on wheat bread. I love things that are sweet and salty at the same time, and I will be making my version again.

Didn't have any orange liqueur but vanilla extract worked just fine. Delicious!

Quick and Simple Broccoli and Cheese

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2008
Used a frozen broccoli/cauliflower mix that steamed in the bag, then just sprinkled shredded cheddar over the top and microwaved it for a minute. Fantastic way to incorporate veggies into the dinner!

Corny Chicken Wraps

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2008
Overall very tasty. I made some changes though. I'm a vegetarian so I just substituted morningstar chicken strips instead of real chicken strips. Used a yellow onion instead of green onions, omitted, olives (dont care for them), and was liberal in the use of chili powder and red pepper. I didnt measure the spices, just sprinkled them overtop. Also, my salsa of choice was a pineapple salsa for a slightly different flavor. Only note, the way I made mine at least it was a little messy to eat. Thumbs up from me, yummy.

Unsloppy Joes

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2008
I've made this twice now, and I really love it. I do find chopping the veggies kind of tedious, but it has to be done. I have been leaving out the celery and vinegar just because I don't like those things, and I've been adding cayenne pepper along with the chili powder because I love spicy! Its definitely a hearty sandwich, and it keeps well, too.

Broccoli Cheese Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2008
Absolutely delicious! I made it pretty much as written, though I chose 1 can cream of brocolli and 1 can cream of asparagus just because I dislike mushrooms. The processed cheese sauce I chose was Tostitos salsa con queso which gave the whole thing a spicy kick. It is so tasty I cant wait for the leftovers.

Aunt Mary's Banana-Chocolate Chip Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2008
Couldnt find the correct pan size so I used a smaller one and adjusted the cooking time. Added a third banana which definitely works if you want a strong banana flavor to compliment the chocolate chips. Overall very tasty, but I recommend using the proper pan size.

Cake Balls

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2008
I was super excited to make these. I love to bake (cakes in particular) and this fun spin on candy and cakes seemed like too much fun. I used a small cookie scoop to get make the balls, and it worked fairly well, but I still had to get one hand dirty making sure they would hold shape. I also never seemed to figure out how to dip them properly, but in the end a pair of small tongs and some rolling around worked well. This recipe is fun if you and your friends have some time and don't mind getting a little messy. Delicious anyhow.

Addictive Sweet Potato Burritos

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2008
Final product was decent and certainly very very filling. I wish I had mixed the potatos with the bean mixture before putting it into the tortilla, though. It seemed like the distribution was poor so I never got the flavors together. I also upped the red pepper so it was nice and spicy. I suggest watching the amount of water you mix into the beans, you may not need as much as it calls for, and also you may wish to let the whole mixture simmer as you're adding spices so they can blend and the whole pot wont be as watery in the end.

Chocolate Pretzels

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2008
I've been making these for years and they are a wonderfully quick and easy snack. A little tedious to unwrap the kisses, but so worth it for that chocolate craving.

Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2008
This was my first time making deviled eggs and I chose this recipe because of all the rave reviews. They are very tasty indeed, but I have to agree that they were a tad salty for me. Great excuse to do it again!
