Seven Layer Salad

Rave reviews from everyone at the family reunion this weekend! The full pound of bacon and the red onions really make the salad. I also loved the addition of parmesan cheese to the mayo dressing--used the fancy shred, rather than the powdered canned stuff, and it worked out very well. I also increased the mayo to 2 cups. My dad, who'd never had this kind of salad before, asked if it was my own recipe, because, "this is a real award winner, if you ask me!" Thanks for a great, simple recipe!

Epicurean Deviled Eggs

I was very disappointed with this recipe. Far from "melting in your mouth," these eggs were like eating cold lumps of egg yolk-flavored butter. Everyone tried one, and then politely refused to eat the rest. We'll stick with the more traditional recipes for this one.

Austrian Jam Cookies

What did I do wrong??? The dough was grainy, like pie crust before you add the water. Obviously no one else had this trouble. Never got to try the cookies...

Tomato-Sauerkraut Pork

This recipe became an instant family classic the first night we tried it! (Our 13 year old put it on the calendar, so she'd remember to ask for it for her birthday supper next year!!) It was so easy, and tasted soooo good!

Haddock Bubbly Bake

We were looking for an easy, tasty fish dish for Lenten Fridays, and this one is IT! We also have adapted it for lower calories, using lowfat condensed soup and fat free cheddar cheese. Still tastes great!
