Pies, cakes, cookies, main dishes, eggs, pork, chicken, fish, potatoes, soups, salads (potato, macaroni, pasta)...
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making holiday treats. Pumpkin pies, "Eggless, milkless, butterless cake", Buddy's cookies, Granny's flat cake, Mom's soft raisin cookies, pies made from the apples off of our own tree, pie crust squares (from the left over dough). Each person's favorite pie on his/her birthday.
My cooking triumphs
My pies are my best accomplishment. I learned to make great pie crust at my grandmother's elbow. She made the best pie crust on earth. All of the women in my extended family make good pie crust but, I seem to have inherited the knack for making truly excellent crust.
My cooking tragedies
I have a difficult time making roast beef come out perfect. I either over cook it or under cook it. It is either tough or dried out and tasteless.

Scottish Oat Scones
They were good when they were warm but, they became dry and crumbly when they cooled. I will make them again. They are great warm with strawberry jam.

Marinated Baked Pork Chops
The sauce is delicious! This recipe makes just enough for 6 medium size pork chops. The cooking time and temperature are off though. I reduced the heat to 325 degrees and cooked the chops 20 minutes per side. I also put them on a rack so that the sauce would form a glaze. I made extra sauce (minus the vegetable oil) to use as dip. I placed the ingredients in a small saucepan and simmered them to dissolve the sugar, then cooled the sauce.
