I love to cook and bake and take every opportunity to try new recipes. From classic to daring, I try to do it all.
My favorite things to cook
Desserts are probably my favourite thing to make. I love themes and decorating. Desserts are definitely what I use as a creative outlet.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas is a big deal to my family. Our Christmas dinner is the exact dinner that my grandmother used to make. I'm certain that these recipes will be passed on from generation to generation for years to come.
We also do holiday baking together, which often results in a flour fight between my sister and I.
My cooking triumphs
My biggest triumph has to be a... ummm... novelty cake that I made for my sister's bachelorette party. The cake tasted and looked amazing. Not only was it my first time working with fondant, I made the fondant from scratch!
The first whole roast chicken that I have ever cooked turned out to be the absolute best I have ever had. That was quite a triumph! I continue to make that exact chicken, and even make it for guests (who always compliment it).
My cooking tragedies
My worst, hands down, was when I tried to make a red velvet cake for my MIL's birthday. I had a bunch of family over. The cake looked wonderful, smelled wonderful... and it tasted like play dough. It was so embarrassing to serve it to everyone. I definitely learned my lesson. Never try new recipes on guests. ;)
