I have been asked alot what has happened to me lately. Things have changed alot in the past year or two since I last checked in, so I think I owe it to you all for an update.

I ended up moving to Texas to go to graduate school. My husband at the time ended up not being able to come. I took a few weeks off over the summer however and went to Saudi. Of course, I still didnt have the legal permission to be there, so to get into the country I had to sneak in by boat from another country. I had a nice time there, but I knew I couldnt stay there... atleast not illegally, it was just too much work and problems along with some serious risk, so I left in less then a week and got back out of the country to fly home. I kept in touch with my husband, but when we hit our 3 year anniversary and I still wasnt allowed into Saudi, we decided it was best for both of us to move on with life and let it be a sign that it just wasnt going to work out. We got a divorce.

I am still Muslim, but much more liberal and I dont take anything as a "rule" of our faith unless they can back it up with proof from Quran or Sunnah. (hence, I do drink, but I never let it interfere with prayers) Since then I moved back to Kansas to work for a meat company. I have had some serious health issues since moving here though. The doctors still dont know what is causing everything, but I have been staying positive and looking on the good side (my happy moment for the days is that my biopsy came back negative for leukemia ).  I have found one guy who has stuck by my side though everything I have been dealing with since I moved here. He has been my rock to hold on to when things get scary, and we have dated on and off, but we both need time to develop who we are as individuals and make our own path in life as independent people, so we arent in a committed relationship.

Anyways, that is where I stand in life.

Except for the health issues, it seems you have a good place in life. My best for you to conquer those health problems. Regardless of faith, it is a good idea to stick with it regardless of how secular your environment may be.

Best of luck in your new life. If you and your friend are meant to be a couple, it will happen. Meanwhile you can value his support. I hope your health improves soon.

I'm so sorry to hear things didn't work out for you and your husband, Sarah. Thankfully you and your husband could come to the decision together and part ways amicably (at least that's the way it sounds). I hope the doctors are able to find out what's causing your health issues and you can feel better ASAP!

Hi, neighbor! I live in Kansas too, although some distance away. I had a couple of friends that were teachers there in Garden City, but they moved about a year or so ago. I hope you like it out there. Sorry to hear about your health problems and your split with your husband. Take care of yourself!

About Me
I am a determined survivor (of several things) and I have learned to never give up.
My favorite things to cook
I am adventurous and love trying to attempt at making things from all over the world and trying new stuff all the time. I am a huge fan of taking something simple like tomato soup and adding spices and stuff and attempting new flavors in things that are still easy to make. My new passion with cooking is finding healthy substitutions that still convey the right textures or effects.
My favorite family cooking traditions
As a family we always try a new unexpected twist on a dish once a week.
My cooking triumphs
I can make a slice of "chocolate" cake that has less then 60 calories a slice.
My cooking tragedies
Way too many
