Cranberry Orange Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2011
Fantastic chewy cookies! My kid don't like them, but I think they're entirely wonderful. I'd intended to glaze them, but they'd be too sweet if I did. Next time may reduce the sugar a little if I want glaze on them. Thanks for the wonderful recipe!

Classic Gingerbread Cutouts

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2011
This dough was easy to work with and the cookies came out chewy but sturdy. Love the flavor, too, though they do need icing to be sweet enough for my taste. :)

Tomato-Topped Sole

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2008
This was great! The whole family enjoyed it, including my very picky two-year-old. I used flounder instead of sole and used fresh garlic instead of powder. It was mild, so the flavors of the fresh fish, tomato, and garlic really came through.

Ground Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2011
This was a popular meal in our home. I did make small changes, mainly using fresh mushroom and garlic. The resulting mixture needed a bit of salt, but this was a nice, quick, satisfying meal.

Strawberry Shortcake

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2010
Fantastic biscuit-style shortcake. This was a huge hit with the whole family. I made it exactly according to the recipe, except that I used unsalted butter instead of shortening. It was delicious - no baking powder taste, and quite sweet enough with the berries and whipped cream. This is definitely a keeper!

Easy Pancakes

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2009
Quick and easy pancakes that don't require anything I don't always keep in the pantry. Of course the recipe should state 2 teaspoons (rather than tablespoons) of baking powder) but other than that I didn't change a thing and they came out great!

Fluffy Biscuits

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2011
I made these to use as shells for mini meat pies and they were divine. There was some dough left over, so I made drop biscuits with that - also fantastic! I used butter instead of shortening and found the taste and texture to be very nice.

Uglies

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2011
These were great! I used fresh garlic instead of powder, and made fresh biscuit dough (I didn't have the refrigerated stuff in the house) and they turned out perfect. The whole family enjoyed them.

Basil Tomato Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2011
This is very good. I didn't have fresh basil, so I used crushed tomatoes with basil and added a bit of extra dry basil to the mix. Much better than the canned soup we were using, and less expensive, too!

Mmm-Mmm Better Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2010
I chose these because they were dairy-free, but they were a huge hit with everyone who tried them!

Oatmeal Apple Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2008
These were tasty, but I had to make some modifications to suit my family. I used whole wheat pastry flour to lighten the texture, added another apple, and used 1/2 cup brown sugar instead of 1/3 cup granulated sugar. They were definitely a hit!

Quiche

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2013
I love the proportions in this recipe, but though my pie plate says 9", this just doesn't make enough filling. I usually make several at a time, and I simply make 3 batches of filling for two quiches or 4 batches for 3 quiches and they turn out great! I've also added spinach, broccoli, and zucchini, switched out the cheese for cheddar or a cheddar-mozzarella mix, used bacon or sausage instead of ham and generally played with the fillings. All have come out quite tasty.

Sweet Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2013
Wow! These were wonderful! I made them with bread flour, simply because that's what I had on hand. And I accidentally melted the butter, so I just brushed it on, using less than the recommended amount, but the results were still great. The rolls were buttery, with a fantastic texture. This recipe is definitely a keeper!

Sweet Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2013
I made this with bread flour, because that's what I had on hand, and I accidentally melted the butter, so I just brushed it on, using less in total than was recommended. That said, these were wonderful! They are everything I want and don't get from a canned crescent roll. And they're very easy. Thanks for the great recipe!

White Chocolate and Cranberry Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2010
These turned out great! I was in a hurry and didn't have brandy, so I substituted vanilla as many others did, and I just don't like white chocolate, so I used bittersweet chips. And I accidentally added more molasses to one batch than I meant to (subbing for brown sugar with white sugar and molasses) and liked the result. Soooooo yummy! I'll definitely try to get brandy next time - it sounds interesting!
