BBQ Pork Sandwiches

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2009
So yummy. I've made this several times and made it for my mom who kow makes it for other people as well! Always a big hit! We only use Sweet Baby Ray's after trying to use a brand we got on sale of BBQ sauce and not nearly as good.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2009
This was a really good basic recipe. I made my own dumplings because I didn't have canned (some jiffy and milk) and added frozen peas and carrots to the bottom of the pan. Turned out kinda like chicken pot pie but really yummy and left overs were good too.

Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2009
My husband asked for seconds! I rinsed some dry black beans and throw them in the pot. The beans fully cooked although made the soup a little darker which is fine. Other then that I stuck with the recipe and just topped with some Cambell's fiesta cheese soup and avocado.

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2009
This was so yummy and creamy. I grew up eating stroganoff that my mom made with red meat (that I always picked out, I don't like beef) and sour cream. I love the cream cheese though. It was such creamy goodness! Its definately going into my rotation of recipes, thank you for sharing!

Colleen's Slow Cooker Jambalaya

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2009
This turned out so yummy with just a little bit of kick. I added some blackbeans I had left over from a previous dinner and used chili pepper powder because thats all I had, also added a tsp of minced garlic. And I just left the chicken whole to cook until right before adding the shrimp and it was very easy to shred apart in pot. This filled my 5 qt pot to the top but it cooked down. I added 2 c. cooked brown rice at the end to reduce a little of the soupiness of it. I will still be having lots of left overs even after all my husband ate last night. I will be making this again!

Dog Treats I

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2009
Both my dog who loves treats and my mom's dog who is very picky loved these. They both sit and wait when they think they are getting one. And this recipe makes a lot, I was able to share!

Peanut Butter and Pumpkin Dog Treats

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2009
I loved these and used a pumpkin cookie cutter and made an orange colored egg wash and sold them at a bake sale. Very cut. My dogs preferred the beefy flavored treats but still ate these up too!

Diabetic Dog Treats

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2009
Very easy to make and the dogs loved them. I don't have a food processor and so i went and found babyfood that was just beef with beef broth that was already processed and mixed it all together with a spoon. Great and Quick.

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2009
I split the batter before adding sugar and I made half using a sugar free substitute for my diabetic parents. I also subbed the butter for oil, added cinnamon to the muffin batter as well as vanilla. I didn't do the streussel topping on the sugar free half but chopped walnuts instead. Big hit. It made 12 decent sized muffins. Thank you.

Slow Cooker Chile Verde

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2009
This recipe was so easy to make, and has been requested again by everyone who has tried it. If its a little spicy just have some limes handy to squeeze over it. My husbands mother if from Mexico and makes everything from scratch. So, I made this for my inlaws one night and it has been inlaw approved! Thank you!

Slow-Cooked Country Ribs in Gravy

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2009
I was looking for something other then the usual BBQ sauce for the ribs we had. I made a few modifications due to not having everything exactly. 1.) used prepared brown mustard and 2.) I didn't have any vinegar and so I used some hot sauce that had vinegar as one of the first ingredients. It didn't make them spicy at all. I cooked them on high for about 4 hours (I got a late start!) and then set them on warm and added 4 TBS of wheat bread flour (the only kind I had on hand) and it thickened up the gravy nicely. It was a hit with my husband and parents. Will be making again!

Soft Giant Pretzels

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2009
These were good for the most part. I did have trouble trying to shape them though and ended up just rolling them out with my hands into a long roll, folding in half and twisting the two sides together. Once boiled and baked though it was more a lump than anything. The taste was still there but lacking in presentation. I don't know how others got them to hold shape?

Amish Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2009
This was like the bread you get for sandwiches. I was looking for something a bit heavier and chewier. So it was good for what it was and easy to make.

Black Beans and Rice

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2009
My husband loved this and it is such an easy side dish to make. Even my mom who doesn't like beans ate it up. I make it as a side for the Chili Verde I got from this site.

Basic Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2009
So quick and yummy! I only used 3 cups of the sugar so that I would have the rest for sugar cookie icing that I am also making. For a Christmas touch I crushed up a candy cane and mixed it in to top my cupcakes and it is SOOO yummy! Will make again.

Kalacs (Hungarian Cinnamon Swirl Bread)

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2009
This smelled so good while baking and my husband I I couldn't help but eat half of the first loaf when it came out! I made it in my bread machine on dough cycle and then rolled it out and doubled up on the filling. I put both loaves to rise and they rose up very nicely before baking! So good, I am making these for holiday goodie baskets.

Conchas (Mexican Sweet Bread)

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2009
These were good but I will have to try again with a different flour. I used a wheat bread flour and my husband said they were good but tasted a little "healthy", lol. The top was fun to work with. I added a little too much vanilla to the half I did that flavor and the artwork I did kinda smoothes away. The cinnamon side was beautiful though. thank you!

Honey Roasted Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2009
These were okay the next morning when we used them for breakfast and fried them up with the left over holiday ham and some eggs. As for dinner, they took longer to cook them expected (probably should have cut up more, I ended up taking them out and putting them in a bowl to microwave them to make them softer) and not as much flavor as I was hoping.

Double Layer Pumpkin Cheesecake

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2009
If I make again I will maybe double up or at least add more cream cheese. I tried making it in a spring form pan instead of a pie crust and it just looked small compared to the other cheesecake. I also I took other reviewers advice and added 1/3 cup more pumpkin and regret it. Too pumpkiny, it would have been better as written.
