Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2011
Perfect. Had even those who "don't like" cinnamon rolls licking their fingers.

Kalua Pig in a Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2011
Easy and my husband loved it. He's Mexican and said it was like less salty less greasy carnitas. I agree and would make this again over carnitas, even in our Mexican dishes.

Chocolate Cavity Maker Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2010
I made a vanilla version. I used vanilla pudding and cake mix and I used the vanilla candy melts in place of chocolate chips. I omited the coffee and instead used 2 tsp of vanilla. It is getting rave reviews as we speak. My husband says it taste like an old fashioned donut cake. I decorated with chocolate covered strawberries and cream cheese frosting. I can't wait to try it again with chocolate! It is a great starter recipe to customize!

Grandma's Noodles II

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2010
Super easy. I thought with such a little amount of dough it wouldn't be enough for my soup but went with it anyway. I used the baking powder and rolled them out to the point that I thought they might be too thin. I cooked them seperately due to some of the excess flour from rolling them out and I am glad I did. These puffed up as soon as they hit the boiling water! I should have cut them thinner and they would have been perfect (I cut them a little thicker not thinking they would almost triple in size!). Easiest recipe I for noodles I made so far. I made the dough first and then let it sit while starting the soup base and cutting my carrots and celery. I rolled them out and cooked them seperately and they were ready right on time. Thank you.

Broccoli Chicken Roli

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2010
So yummy and the star roli pattern was very easy and the stuffing didn't leak out even though there were openings in the roli. Beautiful presentation and I used 1.5x the ingredients for the mixture and it STUFFED 2 cans of crescent rolls... trust me you'll want to make 2 because this went so quickly.

Sweet Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2009
If I could make this more stars I would. After taking the dough out of my bread machine I made it into rolls and left it in a casserol dish hoping they would rise because they looked so small. Then I went on making the rest of Christmas dinner. They quadrupled by the time I got ready to put them in! But they were soooo good. It was the one thing that was completely gone by the end of dinner. This is the only bread I ever want to eat! Delicious!!!

Double Layer Pumpkin Cheesecake

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2009
If I make again I will maybe double up or at least add more cream cheese. I tried making it in a spring form pan instead of a pie crust and it just looked small compared to the other cheesecake. I also I took other reviewers advice and added 1/3 cup more pumpkin and regret it. Too pumpkiny, it would have been better as written.

Soft Christmas Cookies

Best sugar cookies ever! When I usually make them they are hard and not the best flavor. Its like buying them from a bakery!

Honey Roasted Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2009
These were okay the next morning when we used them for breakfast and fried them up with the left over holiday ham and some eggs. As for dinner, they took longer to cook them expected (probably should have cut up more, I ended up taking them out and putting them in a bowl to microwave them to make them softer) and not as much flavor as I was hoping.

Conchas (Mexican Sweet Bread)

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2009
These were good but I will have to try again with a different flour. I used a wheat bread flour and my husband said they were good but tasted a little "healthy", lol. The top was fun to work with. I added a little too much vanilla to the half I did that flavor and the artwork I did kinda smoothes away. The cinnamon side was beautiful though. thank you!

Kalacs (Hungarian Cinnamon Swirl Bread)

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2009
This smelled so good while baking and my husband I I couldn't help but eat half of the first loaf when it came out! I made it in my bread machine on dough cycle and then rolled it out and doubled up on the filling. I put both loaves to rise and they rose up very nicely before baking! So good, I am making these for holiday goodie baskets.

Basic Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2009
So quick and yummy! I only used 3 cups of the sugar so that I would have the rest for sugar cookie icing that I am also making. For a Christmas touch I crushed up a candy cane and mixed it in to top my cupcakes and it is SOOO yummy! Will make again.

Black Beans and Rice

My husband loved this and it is such an easy side dish to make. Even my mom who doesn't like beans ate it up. I make it as a side for the Chili Verde I got from this site.

Amish Bread

This was like the bread you get for sandwiches. I was looking for something a bit heavier and chewier. So it was good for what it was and easy to make.

Soft Giant Pretzels

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2009
These were good for the most part. I did have trouble trying to shape them though and ended up just rolling them out with my hands into a long roll, folding in half and twisting the two sides together. Once boiled and baked though it was more a lump than anything. The taste was still there but lacking in presentation. I don't know how others got them to hold shape?

Slow-Cooked Country Ribs in Gravy

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2009
I was looking for something other then the usual BBQ sauce for the ribs we had. I made a few modifications due to not having everything exactly. 1.) used prepared brown mustard and 2.) I didn't have any vinegar and so I used some hot sauce that had vinegar as one of the first ingredients. It didn't make them spicy at all. I cooked them on high for about 4 hours (I got a late start!) and then set them on warm and added 4 TBS of wheat bread flour (the only kind I had on hand) and it thickened up the gravy nicely. It was a hit with my husband and parents. Will be making again!

Slow Cooker Chile Verde

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2009
This recipe was so easy to make, and has been requested again by everyone who has tried it. If its a little spicy just have some limes handy to squeeze over it. My husbands mother if from Mexico and makes everything from scratch. So, I made this for my inlaws one night and it has been inlaw approved! Thank you!
