Banana Cream Pie I

Reviewed: May 22, 2012
This is exceptional! I read through most of the reviews, but then went ahead and made the recipe as is. The only thing I did change was the flour to fine baking starch. I don't know why others had 'thin' cream unless the cooking time wasn't long enough. If anything, I had a problem with the cream being almost too thick, more towards a heavy curd in consistency. As a result, I skipped the baking as it was nearly set before I put it in the fridge! Thank you for this easy and wonderful recipe :)

Best Moist Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: May 30, 2011
I have made this cake over and over...I have never had a problem with bland flavor! In fact, the opposite..it's actually TOO rich in chocolate flavor for me. It could be that as I live in Germany, and use different chocolate than what is available in the US, is what makes the difference. It's never been dry or crumbly either. It's perfect as it's not too sweet and I don't need a ton of frosting or icing to "sweeten it up". I've made flavor variations such as vanilla, lemon, and the like, and none have disappointed. Thanks for the great recipe!

Irish Tea Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2011
I've made this time after time and it *always* turns out..I like to serve it with lemon curd or, as I'm living in Germany, a smooth vanilla sauce with fresh berries and mint leaf garnish (or candied lemon slices as well) is a wonderful addition in the spring/summertime months.

Spinach and Rice (Spanakorizo)

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2009
I found this to be a bit sweet tasting (could be difference in European tomato and American tomato), but extremely good. It would be great with shrimp in it as well. I don't know if it was the rice I used, but found my cooking time after I added the rice was nearly doubled. Overall, a very tasty dish I will make again.

Spanakopita (Greek Spinach Pie)

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2009
This was really fabulous! I made this for 110 people the very first time I made it (last week) and all I can say is BRAVO!! This recipe turns out *perfectly*, and even after the first fight with the phyllo dough (separating those little buggers), all went well and I had absolutely ZERO left. I paired it with fresh oven baked Atlantic salmon, fresh baked bread, and a fresh tomato/cucumber salad. This meal was a hit with all of the senior citizens I cook for, as well as the staff! Thanks for sharing this delish recipe...I can't wait to make it for my boyfriend who is going to LOVE it. :)

Joy's Green Banana Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2009
This was fabulous! I served it for 100+ at my workplace for "International Day". They loved it and were so surprised that it was BANANAS not potatoes :) It's rapidly become one of my favorite dishes at home and now in my menu rotations :) I take the crab out for myself due to an allergy, but substitute it with scallops. MMMMMmmmm!

White Chocolate Fruit Tart

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2008
Great basic recipe! I *quintupled* it for Easter, changed a few things (a bit of ground almonds in the crust, dark chocolate with lemon zest, and a layer of whipped cream under the fruit)and wound up with a fabulous dessert for my workplace! I will utilize this recipe MANY times, at work and for friends/family. Will try a few more changes as well that I have in mind! :) Thanks for sharing this..it's really quite lovely!
