Margarita Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2008
This is a great recipe! I made a few changes after reading others reviews. I used white cake and lime juice in place of lemon. Also, I doubled the glaze and applied it in 2 batches. First, after poking holes in the cake while still warm in the pan, I spooned one full batch of the glaze and let it soak in for 15 minutes. Then removed the cake from pan and let cool completely. Next I made another full batch of glaze, but this time thicker and spooned over cool cake. After tasting the cake, I think I will skip the 2nd batch of thicker glaze, it made it too sweet. This is a very versatile recipe, almost any combination of alcohol can be used.

Fresh Grapefruit Juice Smoothie

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2008
Very good smoothie. The fresh grapefruit juice is a perfect balance with the sweet banana and strawberries. Only change I made was to use splenda in place of honey.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2008
This is THE best! Made it for my "cooking club" and had rave reviews. I made it the day before as others suggested and then reheated in the oven before serving.

Irish Cream Bundt Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2008
This is a delicious cake! I have made it more times than I can recall, always with yummy results. I make it every year for the cake walk at my kid's school. I make it without the nuts, just because it is my preference. Also, really good for breakfast, almost like a glazed donut. YUM!

Army SOS Creamed Ground Beef

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2008
This is a very good recipe, it was perfect for my family of picky eaters. I used fat-free evaporated milk for more creamy texture with less fat. It turned out quite thick, but I was able to add more milk a little at a time until I had the consistency I prefer. Served over egg noodles, but would be delicious over biscuits for breakfast.

Peach Crisp III

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2008
Very good recipe, I like the use of granola in the topping. You could do so many different types for a different flavor each time. I used a combo of frozen and jar peaches and it turned out great.

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2008
This is a great recipe. Very simple to make and comes out beautifully. I followed the directions as is, and had no problems. I used the Satiny Chocolate Glaze from this site as some one else had suggested and it makes a beautiful presentation.

Satiny Chocolate Glaze

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2008
So easy! I microwaved the glaze as other's had suggested and in less than a minute I had a shiny, tasty glaze to pour over my bundt cake. The consistency is perfect. The shiny glaze makes for a beautiful presentation.

Banana Oatmeal Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2008
This is a good version of the typical Banana Bread. The oatmeal makes it much more hearty and dense, but it is not dry! My loaves did not rise much, but it was still good. I took other reviewers advice and used cinnamon applesauce in place of the shortening.

Cream Puffs

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2008
These were SO easy to make with such an elegant result. I followed the recommendations of "MommyfromSeattle" and they turned out great. I made one batch with white chocolate pudding mix and chocolate drizzle and then one batch with vanilla pudding mix and lemon curd whipped in with a powdered sugar spinkle. Someone even asked if they came from a bakery-what a compliment!

Tiramisu Layer Cake

Reviewed: May 1, 2008
What an exquisite cake! I would rather have this cake anyday over traditional tiramisu. I agree with other reviewers to add more kahlua and coffee. However, I will always use mascarpone cheese, you just can't replace it.

White Chocolate Fruit Tart

Reviewed: May 1, 2008
You can get very creative with the presentation of this Fruit Tart. My family gave it rave reviews, but it was only so-so for me. I love the crust, but the filling left something to be desired for me.

Very good cake with a beautiful presentation. I like that the walnuts are ground, rather than just chopped.

Banana Bran Muffins

Reviewed: May 3, 2008
YUM! YUM! YUM! These are delicious muffins and such a simple recipe. Like other reviewers, I wanted to make the muffins healthier, so I made the following changes:1)Used Applesauce in place of butter, 2)Used egg beaters, 3)increased wheat bran by 1/2 cup, decreased AP flour by 1/2 cup, 4)Added Cinnamon and Pumpkin Pie Spices, 5)Added raisins in place of nuts, and 5) used low fat buttermilk (because I needed to use it up). The muffins turned out great!

Giant Ding Dong Cake

Reviewed: May 9, 2008
This is a FUN recipe! I have made it as a cake and as cupcakes. For the cake version, I agree that you should make it in layers, rather than putting all the filling into the center. As cupcakes, I used a pastry bag with a large tip, inserted it into the top of each cupcake and filled until I saw the top of the cupcake rise. I dipped the top of each cupcake into the glaze and let set before adding the white swirl. I got 21 cupcakes, filling each 3/4 full and cooking for 18 minutes. These are better made the day before. Also, you really need to whip the filling mixture to incorporate all the ingredients well.

Chocolate Trifle

Reviewed: May 11, 2008
I would give this 10 stars if possible, it is that good. I made a change to the recipe that I think was crucial to it's success. I whipped heavy whipping cream and only sweetened it very slightly, instead of using Cool Whip. I think this helped the dessert not to be sickly sweet. I also used chopped Heath Toffee bits on top for extra crunch.

Blueberry Crumb Pie

Reviewed: May 11, 2008
This is a delicious pie. I used fresh blueberries in my pie. My pie did not set up and was very liquidy, but it was still very good. I am not good a making pies, so I would not fault the recipe for my lack of success. Also, everyone raved about the crumb topping-so good!

Better Than Sex Cake II

Reviewed: May 30, 2008
This is such a simple recipe, with spectacular results. I have made it many times and it is always good. I prefer to whip up my own whipped cream, rather than using cool whip. I sweeten it very little, so that the overall cake is not too sweet.

Fruit Salad Dressing

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2008
The fruit salad dressing was so easy to make and delicious results. It does not overpower the fruit, but rather enhances the flavor overall. Thumbs up from everyone who had it. It also helped my not so flavorful cantelope taste really good!
