Creamed Chipped Beef On Toast

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2008
Delish! A quick and easy recipe that my whole family enjoyed. I could not find the dried beef in a jar, so I used the carl budig thin sliced pastrami lunch meat. I cut it into strips and heated in a fry pan before adding it to the white sauce. Served over thick toasted slices of challah bread. So good, I will have to double the recipe next time!!

Bread Machine Challah II

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2008
This recipe is great! Using the bread machine to make the dough makes this so simple with impressive results. Challah bread is so good toasted with butter and jam, as french toast, or even in your favorite bread pudding recipe. This is a bread I will make over and over.

Neat Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2008
OH SO GOOD!!! I will never use premade sloppy joe mixes again. This recipe is that good. I used half ground beef and half ground turkey for a great combination. I also made it up early in the day and then let it sit on low in the slow cooker so dinner was ready when hubby got home. My whole family of picky eaters loved it.

Freezer Berry Jam

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2008
Delicious! A great combination of fruits that produces a yummy jam. My jam did not thicken much, but it was my first time making jam, so I would not fault the recipe.

Insalata Tricolore

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2008
This salad is DIVINE! Caprese salad has always been my favorite salad, but the addition of creamy avocado slices, puts this over the moon. The recipe does not call for basil, but I still like to add some basil strips to my salad. Also, to make this worth it, invest in quality ingredients-you won't be sorry.

Baked Pork Chops I

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2008
These were good pork chops, but not out of this world. For the amount of time for prep and cooking and the number of dirty dishes, I was expecting WOW results. It just isn't worth the work, when I can make better tasting pork chops in less time and effort.

Bake Sale Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2008
These were only OK in my opinion. I prefer a more tart lemon bar, and found these much too sweet. I think the proportion of crust to filling is off too. While the crust is delicious, there needs to be more filling. I will look for another recipe that has a tart filling, but may use the crust from this one.

Peanut Butter Bars I

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2008
SO GOOD!!!! If you are a peanut butter/chocolate fanatic like me, then you will love this. I followed other reviewers suggestions to make the recipe easier by melting the peanut butter with butter, then mixing with graham crackers and powdered sugar. Also, chill the peanut butter base for 15 minutes before topping with chocolate mixture.

Classic Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2008
This is good recipe for a BAKED macaroni and cheese. If you are looking for macaroni and cheese with a creamy sauce, this is not for you. I did add more cheese than called for since I really like it cheesy! Would also be good with some diced ham or sausage added.

Chinky's Mango Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2008
This is good bread, but you really can't taste the mango in it, which was disappointing to me. It actually reminded me of zuchinni bread. I made a glaze from lime juice and confectioner's sugar to put over the top, since I love the mango/lime combination, but now I just have lime glazed sweet bread. Oh well, it is still good, just not what I was looking for. I would prefer to use the mango in a recipe where I can appreciate it's full flavor.

Wife Saver French Toast

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2008
I made the recipe as is, and feel it is only 4 stars. The flavor is good, but the texture is MUSH. If I were to make it again, I would cut the milk by nearly half. It is also very sweet, I would be tempted to cut back on the corn syrup. The caramel side of each piece was the best part.

Mango Lassi II

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2008
Very good and easy to make! My store had mangoes on sale, so I had to try this recipe. I think you could cut down on the sugar, but I used vanilla flavored yogurt, so perhaps that added some sweetness. Overall, very good and refreshing.

Lime Sherbet

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2008
I was not impressed with this recipe. It is much too sweet, sugar should be cut by half. Also, it takes much longer to freeze than the recipe calls for, and after freezing overnight, it becomes very hard and icy. Probably won't make again.

Barbie Doll Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2008
This is a very fun cake that I have made several times. I agree with other reviewers that this recipe needs to be "tweaked". I use the large Pampered Chef batter bowl, using 1 and a 1/2 box mixes. Barbie's legs should be wrapped tightly with plastic wrap. I use a naked barbie and pipe frosting on the body to create her bodice.

Paul's Pumpkin Bars

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2008
A good recipe, but as reviewers have already said, this is not a bar recipe, but rather a cake. The taste is good, but not amazing.

Grilled Asparagus

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2008
Simple and easy. I put my asparagus on a grill pan to prevent them from falling through the grate, but you can't beat the taste of grilled asparagus.

Asian Beef with Snow Peas

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2008
A delicious recipe. Only change I made was to add more veggies (waterchestnuts, baby corn, and edamame). Great for a weeknight dinner, came together really fast. Served with Basmati Rice.

Pumpkin Whoopie Pies

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2008
My family will not stop raving about this recipe-they love it! I followed another reviewers advice to let the batter sit for 10 minutes to thicken. Also used "ACPHIFER's" idea for the filling. I was not crazy about using the original filling because of the raw egg-just my preference. Also, when preparing it, I was surprised at the quantities it called for on the spices, but don't cut back! You need that much for a delicious recipe. Only drawback is that they stick to the plate they are placed on (and each other if stacked) and can leave behind some of the cookie bottom. Will definitely make again!
