Chewy Caramel

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
Wowza! These are so delicious! It took me two tries to get this right, but I am so glad I persisted. The key is to be really patient when cooking the mixture, don't rush! Slow and low (burner temp) is the way to go.

Tater Tot Bake

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
My family thought this was just so-so. Too much cheese, and it just needs something more. We added some canned green beans and it seemed to help, but something was still missing.

Wild Rice Turkey Dish

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
This was a big hit with my family! It was easy to prepare and a great way to use up the leftover turkey bits. Next time I may add some canned green beans to the dish, but otherwise, no changes!

Fantastic Mexican Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
This was a big hit with my guests. It has a terrific presentation, but all raved about the flavor. I took others advice and put a layer of bean dip in the bottom of the plate and then followed the recipe's layering instructions after that. I also agree that making the "base" a day in advance to let the flavors blend makes a big difference!

Jeff's Chili Con Queso

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
Oh my, oh my, this is outstanding queso! It was devoured by my guests and all raved about how good it was. I took other reviewers advice and used the mexican velveeta and also the whole can of no bean chili. Delish!

Russian Tea Cakes I

Great recipe, very easy to make. These cookies store very well too. I prefer to use toasted pecans in my cookies, but that is just a preference.

You can't beat the simplicity of this recipe. It comes together so quickly and with ease with delicious results. I used it to fill vanilla cupcakes.

Crispy Chocolate Log

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2008
5 stars for ease and taste! This is such a simple recipe that comes together in 10 minutes. I had read previous reviews that talked about it looking messy because the chocolate seeped through, so I firmly pressed my crispy mixture in the pan, and then pressed together any holes I could see. It seems to have worked well, but most of all, it is so good!

Cinnamon, Spice and Everything Nice Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2008
These really are delicious! I used butter flavored shortening and used regular molasses, but kept everything else the same. These are like a soft chewy gingersnap. They were better the next day also. Will make again!

Chocolate Ganache

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
Very good, so simple and impressive results. I whipped the ganache for the filling in my cake, and used the poured ganache for the outside of my cake. I didn't care for the whipped version and probably will not do it again, but I really liked the results of the poured gananche. I used semisweet chocolate and found it was almost not sweet enough for me.

1-Dish Pepperoni Cheese Pizza Bake

What a great recipe. It came together so easy and quick. My family loved and have asked me to make it again. We may add more "toppings" next time.

Dark Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
Really good recipe. I have been trying many chocolate cake recipes from this site, and this is the best so far. It is very moist and light, with an excellent chocolate flavor, not too sweet. I did not have problems with the cakes sticking to the pan as others have, and I only used Baker's Joy.

Chocolate Strawberries

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
So simple. I used a reviewer's suggestion to make sure strawberries are dry and room temp before dipping. My strawberries turned out really well, I used white chocolate to dip them in, but you really can use any chocolate.

Slow Cooker Beef Stew II

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2008
So easy and so delicious! I only gave it 4 stars, because I agree with others that it needs seasoning to make it 5 stars. I added a packet of french onion soup mix and it was yummy. I also added peas to it to make it a little more healthful.

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2008
How can 2000+ "5 star" ratings be wrong? This is THE cinnamon roll recipe to use. And it is so easy when using the bread machine. I did make mine the night before and then put in the oven to bake the next morning. What a treat!

Orange Cream Fruit Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2008
YUMMY! So happy I found this recipe, I think it will become a staple at our family gatherings. I made the recipe as called for, but used the following reviewer suggestions to make it a hit: 1.Drain the canned fruits very well, even overnight, if possible. Reserve the pineapple juice. 2.Make the orange sauce and keep in fridge overnight. 3.After slicing/peeling/cutting the apples, soak them in the reserved pineapple juice. This will give them a little flavor boost and keep them from turning brown. 4.Mix the sauce and fruits together 2 hours before serving and keep cold until serving. Also, I did use halved red grapes, and they were a delicious, crunchy addition to the salad. I can't wait to make it again, because I have no leftovers!

Heavenly Pink Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2008
This salad was good, but I am only giving it 4 stars because I feel like the recipe needs modifications to make it really good. I did not use coconut because the group I made it for does not like coconut. Also, I added 2 sliced bananas, which were a nice compliment. Lastly the most critical change for this salad to be excellent is whip up 12 oz of heavy whipping cream and use that instead of cool whip. The salad is plenty sweet without the addition of more sweetness from the cool whip. The whipped heavy cream adds the creaminess the salad needs, without taking the sweetness factor over the top.

Southern Chicken Fried Steak

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2008
This was good, but not as good as others I have tried. I used beef cube steak rather than veal, but that is just my personal taste preference.

Oklahoma Brisket

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2008
My family was only so-so on this recipe. My brisket was a little drier than it usually is with our standard recipe, so not sure where I went wrong. The honey/soy baste gives it an interesting flavor, but again, we will probably stick with our usualy family brisket recipe.

Chocolate Fudge Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2008
Good frosting recipe, the addition of hot fudge is genius. I used Mrs. Richardson's Fudge Lovers which is more of a dark chocolate than regular hot fudge. Used with "Too Much Chocolate Cake" as did many others.
