Best Brownies

Reviewed: May 13, 2012
This is my permanent brownie recipe after trying it. Absolutely the best brownies I've ever had. I'm thinking about making up the dry ingredients into a mix to have on hand when my daughter likes to make brownies.

Chicago Style Stuffed Pizza

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2008
We just had Giordano's a week ago during a trip to Chicago, and tried to duplicate it. We came up with our own filling, but basically just used the dough recipe. I needed to add more flour to the dough, because it seemed too sticky, but other than that, had no trouble with the dough and it baked up fine. I used a stoneware deep dish pan and had plenty of dough. Using a heavy pan like that I think also makes it less likely to burn.

Grandma Johnson's Scones

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2008
I made these this weekend. I added vanilla, some cinnamond and about 1/4 c of sugar. I also split the dough into three batches and made raisin out of one, cranberry/hazlenut with another, and dried mixed berries with the third. They were a huge hit. I didn't have any, but the rest of the family and my sister in law, who I took some to, loved them. I'll be making these again!

Hot Onion Dip

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2007
I made this for Thanksgiving and everyone loved it! I personally thought it needed a stronger onion taste, but I used a sweet onion and if I had used a stronger onion, I think it would have had the taste I was looking for. The rest of my gang loved it and asked for the recipe, therefore I've rated it 5 stars.

Wow, these are addictive. I made four cans up for Thanksgiving appetizers and they all disappeared.

Awesome Sausage, Apple and Cranberry Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2007
OK, this rocks. I wanted to make it for Thanksgiving, but wanted to try it first, so I made it for a potluck, and it was a hit. I used dried herbs, because that's what I had and skipped the turkey liver, but other than that, pretty much followed the recipe. Oh, yeah, we're having it for Thanksgiving, too!

Best Ever Butter Cream Frosting

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2007
It did turn out for me, but I found the flavor just so-so, and the "mouth feel" a little greasy. My family did not care for it at all.

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2007
Mine cracked. I left it in the oven as mentioned, but it cracked after about two hours in the oven. I wonder if loosening it around the edges as someone suggested would work. Besides the cracking of the cheesecake (which I covered with some topping), the flavor and texture were great, and I'll be making this again.

Apple Dumplings II

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2006
If I could, I would give this recipe more than 5 stars. We've made about 400 of these so far for a Boy Scout fundraiser, and these have been a huge hit. We are selling them at $3 each or 4/$10 and we've had lots of people coming back for more. They are huge and wonderful! Excellent recipe, DH even likes them better than the ones his mom made, and that's saying something. Thanks so much for the recipe.

Beer Cheese Soup III

I made this for a tailgate party last weekend and it was a big hit with the adults. None of the kids tried it, thought it smelled funny, but the adults all raved about it. I'll definitely make again.

Very moist and delicious. Family ate both loaves very quickly. Hard to cut though, because it is so moist. Will keep and make again.

Pan Pierogies

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2002
My family, especially the hubby, really liked this. We love pierogies, but never seem to have enough to satisfy the family, so this recipes does the trick. It really does taste like pierogies. I didn't have cheddar cheese, so I used parmesan, so it didn't have a cheesy enough flavor. Next time, I will use cheddar, and also may mix a little cottage or cream cheese into the potatoes to add a little tang.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Squares

This recipe is primo. I made a similar recipe from off of this site, but this one was much better. I will make these again, and may mix 50/50 milk chocolate chips and semi sweet chips. I'm also thinking that I might make these egg shaped for easter.

Hot Bean Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2002
I mixed everything in the food processor -- beans, cream cheese, onions, etc. The dip had a real smooth texture, and it disappeared at the function that I took it to, so it must have been a hit.

Baked Oatmeal I

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2002
I'd had this years ago and lost the recipe. It's great. I share the recipe with people all the time. I prefer less white sugar and more brown sugar, and sometimes use applesauce instead of the oil, but one way or another, it's great.
