About this Cook
I love to come up with recipes and try them out on my freinds. Usually they are well received and I get requests to make them again. The fun ones are the stuff that turns out really bad, because that turns into a pizza and movie night! I promise I will never post one of those recipes.
My favorite things to cook
I love to come up with unusual pasta salads with stuff hanging out in my fridge. And I love my slow cooker!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Mom's Chicken and dumplings. Whenever I make this I can picture her in the kitchen making it!
My cooking triumphs
I came up with the whole menu for my wedding dinner...Roast beef with red wine and pearl onions, cranberry salad, smashed garlic potatoes, and oven roasted root vegatables. The marriage ended, but I still make the beef, potato, and salad recipes!
My cooking tragedies
First attempt at spaghetti in my teens and way overcooked the pasta! Like by 20 minutes!

Hummus III
First time making Hummus from scratch. Had no idea how simle it was to make. Added some olive tapinade and fennel seed. Served with homemade baked whole grain pita chips. This stuff will not last long around here. Yummy.

Baked Soy Lemon Chops
This recipe is great! I added a tsp of honey and took the advice of other tasters by diluting the soy sauce by 1/2 with water. I had quite a bit of marinade left over, so I added 2 tablespoons of brown sugar and a splash of red wine vinegar, reduced it till thick and drizzled it over roasted asparagus. I even used it as a salad dressing for the green salad. WONDERFULL! The chops I used were very thick, so I seared them on both sides in and oven proof skillet first and then finished them in the oven. The moist, moist flavorfull chops I have ever had!

Vanishing Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies
This one gets 5 stars because of the look on my boyfreinds face when he bit into one of these. I went with rasins instead of the chocolate and I omited the salt. Perfect oatmeal cookies! Crispy on the outside, tender and moist on the inside. I also rolled these into small balls and dipped one side in sugar. I baked them with the sugar side up to give them a little bit of a glaze on top. Will make again, and often!
