I'm a 44 year old mother of two (adult) children. I enjoy cooking, trying new recipes and being inventive in the kitchen! I would never go as far as saying I'm an "expert" because I try to learn something everytime I cook. It peeves me to see people on here who are self proclaimed "expert" cooks and commence to giving almost every single recipe they try a bad review, and the few they give a good review to, they insist on comparing them to another recipe by a different name. A little too negative for me...seems they ought to go write their own cookbook, beings they are so great and admit no faults (lol). My passion for cooking has rubbed off on my daughter who, btw, is a great cook and dreams of going to culinary school. Funny, I remember when I was her age (20) and I couldn't boil water without burning it!! ;)
My favorite things to cook
There's nothing better than having friends and family over for a good cookout! I LOVE to BBQ! Any kind of meat or veggie that can be grilled! I have hosted a few pig roasts in my time which turned out incredibly delicious, if I do say so myself!! I also enjoy concocting various BBQ sauces! I would one day like to bottle my own and sell it...that's just a little dream of mine!! ;) I like cooking Southern food, as it is in my roots...and the best comfort food! I don't remember the last time I cooked and it turned out really bad...so I guess I've improved a little bit over the years! LOL!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Grandmother used to make the best pies! When I was a little girl, I remember making cinnamon rolls with the leftover pie crust! They were a little crunchy but good because we made them together! On just about every holiday, my Mom makes sweet & sour green beans! Forget the green bean casserole, these are to die for!
My cooking triumphs
Has to be the BBQ sauce!! Although...my step dad would argue that my split pea soup is the absolute best ever!
