About this Cook
My main hobby is running; I love to run fast and train vigorously to reach my goals. On the other hand, I'm definitely what one might call a "cooking rookie," as I've only recently developed this interest. If I take the same motivated, determined approach to cooking as I do to running, I figure I should be able to quickly improve my cooking ability (or lack thereof).
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy cooking creative and unique recipes of muffins, breads, and various desserts. Though I don't have much of a sweet tooth, my friends and family very much enjoy tasting such products of my cooking excursions.
My cooking triumphs
One of my first, and small, cooking triumphs resulted from my experimentation with a snickerdoodle muffin recipe. It received raves from my family as they snarfed them down within minutes of the muffins' exit from the oven. From here, my interest in cooking grew and their enthusiasm for my first tentative cooking attempt helped boost my sagging baker's ego.
My cooking tragedies
Oh goodness. As a kid in 6th grade, I remember very vividly blowing up my pigs-in-a-blanket after accidentally setting the oven to "convection" instead of "convention." I also recall cleaning up the exploded mess inside the oven after class by the orders of my dismayed FCS teacher.

Chocolate Chip Krispies
Don't add the water...they don't need it. And the additional water makes them puffy and cakey rather than chewy.

Pecan Pumpkin Biscuits
I changed a few things with the recipe - no pecans, buttermilk instead of the cream, upped the pumpkin to 3/4 cup, added some pumpkin pie spice, and replaced the sugar with honey. Delicious!

Cool Whip Cookies
These were absolutely delicious! I used red velvet cake mix to make these more festive for the holidays, and everyone raved about them. I put mine in the oven for about 9 minutes, and the recipe actually made about 50 cookies.
