Slow Cooker Carrot Cake Steel Cut Oats

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2014
I really wanted to like this, but just didn't. I followed the recipe, aside from cutting it down by size. I felt the cinnamon was overpowering and bitter. I finely grated my carrots and they were still "carrots" and a bit hard. I cooked this on low for almost 8 hours. It could just be me, but I didn't care for it.

Cashew Chicken with Water Chestnuts

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2012
I used MUCH less sesame oil (maybe 2 tsp. total) and omited all the veggies to make it like the cashew chicken at my fave place, so basically just chicken, cashews and water chestnuts. It was fabulous!

Aunt Anne's Sesame Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2011
very tasty cookie! I used almond and vanilla extract instead of anise and did not dip in milk. Also only needed about half a cup of seasame seeds. Very quick and easy. Would be good with coffee/tea!

Tofu Parmigiana

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2011
This was our first experience with tofu and it was awesome...My husband LOVED this! I sliced, pressed, seasoned (TS garlic pepper)and froze this then defrosted while doing yard work. Dipped in egg then Italian bread crumbs/parmesan and baked instead of frying. Spread some shredded mozzarella cheese and stuck under the broiler for a a min or two and served with sauce over top instead of baking in the sauce. Will definitely be making this again. Thanks!

Rowing Team's Turkey Reuben Wraps

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2011
This is my first experience with a turkey rueben. I LOVE traditional ruebens and was always turned off by a turkey/slaw version...until now! These are fantastic!

Very good! A coworker was just talking about these today so of course i had to try one! He said to sprinkle a bit of brown sugar, cinnamon, m&m's and mini marshmallows in it. It was great!

Movie Star Popcorn

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2010
Nostalgic? yes. Better than microwave? Debatable. This did taste similar to the oil popped version of my childhood, but if opting for a non-microwaved version for health reasons, I suggest air popped. This tasted heavy and oily to me.

Fried Rice Restaurant Style

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2010
made with a bag of steam fresh rice this is super quick and simple. I made mine by heating a tbsp oil in a small skillet; added a bit of diced onion, celery, frozen peas and carrots and 2 eggs. Stirred a little soy sauce with the veggie and egg mixture and added a few sesame seeds when stirred into the rice. very tasty lunch!

Easy Pizza Sauce I

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2010
I just whipped this up tonight when I realized that I didn't have any pizza sauce on hand or even so much as a jar of tomato sauce! I was about to order pizza online when I decided to check here for a recipe using just tomato paste, since I did have one can of that...and I found this recipe! I'm SO glad I did! Comes together in seconds and tastes fabulous! I subbed anchovy paste for the salt and added about a teaspoon (if that) of sugar.

Creamy Guilt-Free Fudge

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2010
Just made a version of this in the microwave and it's great for a quick sweetness fix. I used what I had on hand, which was a partial bag of semi-sweet and a partial bag of white chips. Also added a handful of chopped macadamia nuts. Fabulous!

Chocolate Chip Pie I

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2010
If you've ever had chocolate chip cookie pie, you would know that this is SUPPOSED to be a gooey pie! It is not supposed to be like a giant/thick cookie in a pie shell...it's gooey rich sweet decadence in a pie shell! That being said, I omit the nuts, usually cut down a bit on the butter and add a teeny bit of salt. Perfection.

Quick and Easy Green Chile Chicken Enchilada Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2010
Very tasty, not so quick if prepared as written. That being said, I have made it twice now. This time I didn't char the tortillas and I mixed the enchilada sauce and sour cream together and added a can of low fat cream of chicken soup and a can of diced green chiles. I also cut the chicken into tiny chunks and cooked them in a skillet with garlic powder and a bit of seasoning salt and paprika.

Pierogies

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2010
Homemade Pierogies are the BEST. They definitely can be time consuming (so make a lot, so it's worthwhile!) but they are so worth it. For the record, reviewers like QTSREIGN annoy me. This recipe doesn't state it's Polish and like every other food in the world...there are multiple recipes and preparations. Your grandmother passed down a fabulous recipe, regardless of the country of origin!

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2010
Amazingly excellent. I cut the mayo and butter down by half as others have suggested (just to cut down on the calories) and used light mayo. This is such a quick dinner, but tastes like something you'd order at your favorite seafood place. Served it with pesto pasta on the side. My husband said it melts in your mouth. I agree!

Sausage Quiche Squares

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2010
I've made this a few times and it's always a hit. We have tried it with turkey sausage (a fave) as well as with a combo of diced ham and real bacon pieces and almost always with egg beaters instead of eggs. Usually I just use cheddar and cottage cheese but have thrown in the swiss on occassion. The cottage cheese is the IT factor for this recipe.

Low Fat Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2010
Sorry for the bad review but these Definitely don't taste "just like beef" and are actually quite bland. Go for extra lean ground beef if you want a beef burger. Go for a more flavorful recipe if you want turkey burgers.

Frosted Corn Flake Cereal Clusters

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2010
Just made these for my husband. He's a big fan of butterscotch and PB. I didn't measure anything just used a bag of chips and a couple huge scoops of PB and nuked them for about a min or so until melted and then poured in the flakes until the texture seemed right. I also spread them in a 9x13 pan for bars. Easy easy easy.
