No Bake Chocolate Oat Bars

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2013
I tried to follow reviews about decreasing the butter by 1/4 cup and it didn't seem to work to well for me. The oatmeal ended up pretty crumbly and didn't stick together to make bars. The filling was okay. I liked the flavor, but it probably needs doubled to make it a hearty bar that is worth eating. I think I will pass this one up in the future and go with a different recipe.

Rosemary Ranch Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2013
I loved this recipe! The flavor is terrific and the chicken so moist. I made these for a birthday party and expected to have lots of left over. They gobbled them up and I had two sticks left! I marinated them overnight in the fridge and the flavor and moistness of the chicken was terrific! Definitely a repeat!!

Slow Cooker Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2013
These were good and flavorful potatoes. I don't think the crock pot is necessary to make them, but makes it a little easier if planning a big meal. The flavor is not overbearing and does not need any additional toppings or gravy. I would repeat these in the future.

Blueberry Shortbread Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2013
An alright bar. I would have liked them a little thicker so I would probably 1 and a half times the shortbread recipe next time. This recipe tastes like shortbread. Nothing spectacular, but okay. Not much more than shortbread with blueberries thrown in.

Italian Green Beans

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2012
Super easy and great flavor. I will be repeating this one! I didn't use the 1/4 c. butter - instead I reduced it to 2 Tbsp and the green beans had great flavor, just the right amount of crunch and were delicious!

Grandma's Peach French Toast

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2012
I used multigrain french bread, 4 fresh peaches and increased eggs to include 8 eggs. It still needed a few more eggs for my liking, but overall it had good flavor. The bread was a little crispy after it was done baking, but was a decent recipe.

Independence Day Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2012
The colors are fun for July 4th picnics. The flavors of the berries and chips were yummy. The cookie base isn't anything spectacular - just a regualr cookie base. I cut the recipe in half and used half butter and half crisco (butter flavor).

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2012
Great flavor!! Moist, but not too dense. The crumb topping really is the icing on the cake. A great way to use overripe bananas and super easy. Next time I might add walnuts to the muffin for something a little extra. The only downfall to this muffin recipe is I wish they made more - they are that yummy!

Ukrainian Apple Cake (Yabluchnyk)

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2012
Good crumb crust layered with apples. The apples don't stick together as well as I had liked in the layers, but they taste delicious and I wouldn't want to add any more sugar to make them stick. The tastes like a box cake mix used to make a crust.

Jumbo Dark Chocolate Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2012
Love these!! I used Ghiradellie bittersweet chocolate chips and Hershey Dark Chocolate cocoa. I also made them normal size and baked them @ 350F for 14 minutes. Fantastic dark chocolate cookie that isn't overly sweet!!

Banana Oat Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2012
Alright taste. A little bland. I added some butterscotch chips to a few muffins and some dark chocolate chips to others which helped give them a little more flavor. I did substitute 1/2 the sugar for splenda and NF greek yogurt for the oil. Okay for a subtle morning muffin, but I think I like my banana bread recipe better.

Classic Tiramisu

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2011
I thought this was okay for tiramisu. I had troubles with it being a little too runny. I think you have to let it sit in the fridge for a couple days to help because I followed the directions and had stiff peaks in my heavy cream. I used 3 packages of soft lady fingers and quickly dipped them in Kahlua instead of brushing them. Flavor is pretty good, I just wasn't as happy about the consistency and would have liked it to be thicker. I used a springform pan, but can't release it because I am not sure it will keep its shape. If you are going to try it make it a few days ahead to allow the coffe/liquor flavor to meld into the tiramisu and also to let is set and thicken. I think I would try a different recipe next time instead of this one.

Beef Wellington

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2011
Great flavor! I made this for my husband's birthday and he loved it. Large servings if you follow the recipe. I used 2 - 8oz. tenderloins. I didn't use butter on mine, which took longer to brown, and mushrooms were chopped instead of sliced. I couldn't find liver pate so after talking to the butcher I used Braunschweiger and it tasted wonderful!! The pastry did get a little soft on the bottom, but still tasted great. I didn't make the sauce and thought this did fine without it. I was impressed this worked out as well as it did. I did have to extend cooking time because the meat was pretty rare - thermometer is a must to prepare this dish. Definitely worth a try!!

Chicken with Garlic, Basil, and Parsley

Fantastic flavor and so simple to put together!! My husband and I agreed this will go in the book of favorites. To dress it up I did sprinkle some feta and extra herbs over the tomatoes about 5 min. before it was done baking.

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2011
Yummy - my husband had two as soon as they were out of the oven. Next time I would follow the advice of flipping the pan over as soon as you take them out of the oven to let the cinnamon filling fun over the rolls and then frost them.
