Cedar Planked Salmon

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2011
This is the best way to have salmon, hands down. I served two salmon done this way at a bar-b-q we had, and there was not one spec left ... SOOOOOOOOOOOOO good! even my dog loved it apparently, as we found the wood planks licked clean the next day, lol

Nannie's Hot Milk Sponge Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2011
This was interesting....I made it in cupcake tins because I couldnt find my bread tin... They were okay, but didnt just take like a sponge cake...they had a very unique hot milk taste, that I cant say I loved...If you like the taste, it's a great recipe, they turned out wonderfully, but I just didnt care for the flavor. I suppose I wasnt expecting the milk to have such a strong taste. My dad didnt mind them though.

Easy Meatloaf

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2011
for people who cannot cannot have preservatives, wheat, or dairy (like my sister) : I used rice crumbs instead of bread crumbs, and rice milk instead of milk, organic soy sauce instead of ketchup and maple syrup instead of brown sugar. (I did use a strong german mustard even though it had sulphites. Maybe instead mustard powder could be used?) It came out well, but I think I didnt need quite so much rice crumb or milk. And next time I would make more sauce and mix some right in the meat, and put more on top, as it was a tiny too bland and ricey tasting. But that was just my taste, my parents loved it how it was.

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2011
Great bread! I think my yeast was dead, (or dying) because it took forever to rise, and didnt even reach the top of the bread tin, let alone go over it, but it came out dense enough to cut into very thin slices so I didnt mind ( with less sugar, it would be perfect for finger sandwiches) My dad loves it, both loaves are almost gone! I better get new yeast and make more! He wants me to make bread every week now lol. Thanks so much!

Melt - In - Your - Mouth Shortbread

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2010
I've used this recipe for years, I forget where I found it. I'm so happy to find it on here!! My favotite way to have thenm is with 1 tsp each o vanilla, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and 1/4 tsp cloves. Then ice them with a sugar cookie icing recipe....sooooo good. And you can pretty much put in anything you want and suit them to your taste....I'm going to try lemon soon...yummy. These are foolproof. :)

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2010
I made a shortbreadish-gingerbreadish cookie recipe I kinda made up, and this icing was perfect! I thought it might be too sweet so I didnt put it on all the cookies, but I'll have to make more now, because it is perfect. it sweetens the cookie up perfectly, and looks really nice. Very glossy, I thoght it was still wet. I even forgot to put the corn syrup in the white icing, but it worked fine. I remembered to put it in the red, and it does look nicer. Very vibrant colour. Thanks so much!!! This is just the easy, yummy recipe I needed.

Creamy Tomato-Basil Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2009
I didnt have a lot of the stuff this recipe needed, and guesstimated a lot, and it turned out incredibly!!! I used 5 tomatoes, cored but not peeled and 1 can stewed tomatoes, mostly drained. I didnt have fresh basil so just poured in a bunch of dried. Put in some minced garlic, garlic and onion powder in with the onions. Added some hot chili steak spice(it gave it a little kick), used an immersion blender and started to strain, but my mom was eating the stuff I strained out, so I thought if its that good leave it in. My mom and dad ate almost the whole pot for dinner. I got one bowl. Guess I better make it again soon!

Instant Rolls

Was in a little bit of a panic, trying to make my parents an anniversary breakfast, and wanting to make eggs benedict (Which I have never had) and used these. They were perfect! so fast and easy. My parents liked them for eggs benedict, and I dont think they were saying it just to be polite :) and as plain buns, they are so simple and good.

Aussie Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2009
Very nice. Didnt use much of the honey mustard sauce,my dad thought it was too salty (and I made it without corn syrup like others suggested) Used lots of suggestions from other reviewers and it turned out great. I would suggest fresh mushrooms, the canned ones smelled and tasted a little weird to me. Also, serve with something light! I served it with a rich garlic mashed potato recipe, and we all thought we were going to explode! It was soooo filling!

Cindy's Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2009
This was awesome!!! A little messy (I put the boxes of ice cream on a cookie tin and in the oven to thaw them...wow I am dumb...lol) but so worth it. Unlike any pumpkin pie I have ever made. Really runny before it goes into the oven...I was spilling it everywhere...(probably thanks to my lake of too melted ice cream...)but it is wonderful once it is done!!!

Garlic Mashed Potatoes Secret Recipe

These were awesome!!! Now everytime I make mashed potatoes my parents and sisters ask "are they the restaurant potatoes?" Romano cheese was more difficult to find than I anticipated, but it was worth searching for. Delicious!!!

Lemon Poppy Seed Loaf

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2009
As a bread it was a sad failure...and I dont think I did anything wrong...but I also put it into tiny muffin tins to make mini muffins, and except for not greasing the pan enough (it has to be heavily greased) they turned out fine. I think I'll make them again. (And the batter is soooooo good....it almost didnt make it to the tin....)

Zucchini Soup II

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2008
WOW! the best soup ever. I had to make the recipe times four for a huge formal dinner we were having, and a few hours before the dinner began my mom dropped the whole pot of it in the floor while trying to move it!! I had to rush to a friend's house to make another huge batch, and it came out even better the second time! I LOVE THIS SOUP.
