I am an Asst. Tech Designer for URban Outfitters in Philadelphia and an aspiring fashion designer. I enjoy all kinds of activities - baseball, snowboarding, rockabilly music, swing and jive dancing, crafting, sewing, scrapbooking, guitar hero, Pabst Blue Ribbon, the 1950's, and of course cooking and baking.
My favorite things to cook
Italian food, fresh pasta, simple "comfort" foods - I love memphis BBQ, and i love to bake, though rarely have time.
My favorite family cooking traditions
my grandmom used to have sunday "dinner" at her house every sunday afternoon - always a fresh pasta (both with red sauce, and with butter or oil and garlic), some kind of raviolli or other pasta, veggies, soup (my favorite being her homemade wedding soup - with mini homemade meatballs and day old egg dipped fried bread cut into cubes with chicken broth - or her crepe soup), and a ton of other stuff that i can't even remember right now. And we used to always make a TON of cookies for christmas every year.
My cooking triumphs
just having the time to cook again. I have finally mastered my own quick red sauce (though still want to make one completely from scratch with tomato's that i will plant this year instead of using canned crushed and diced ones). Also made from scratch devils food cupcakes filled with white cream inside with chocolate ganache frosting from a great cookbook called "retro deserts"
My cooking tragedies
there are no tragedies, only learning experiences :)
