About this Cook
I'm single with five grandkids. It's wonderful being by the lake and fishing. Love to make quilts and wallhangings, which I give away. I hear & see the loons most every night together with the parade of about 15 baby ducks & their two mamas which seem to have banded together
My favorite things to cook
Love to cook desserts; pies, bars, etc I make a mean beef stroganoff that everyone loves.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Turkey with dressing and cranberries at Thanskgiving. Prune rolls on Easter morning and Ham dinner later
My cooking triumphs
I make great pie crusts. Especially with rhubarb and apples.
My cooking tragedies
The first thanksgiving after getting married, we had my family for dinner, about 17 of us. I prepared Turkey, dressing, cranberries, etc., and dished up everything and we all sat down to eat. My dressing was made from scratch and it included lots of giblets....I don't remember if the turkey was done but I do remember that the dressing was not. That never happened again.

Seven Minute Frosting I
You will have better success with this if you use 1/4 C. white corn syrup and 1/4 tsp Cream of Tartar. The frosting holds up better and is nice and creamy

Amish Meatloaf
This would definitely be a five if you cut the brown sugar in half for the entire recipe with only half the amount of topping it calls for. Even with half the brown sugar, it is still a little on the sweet side but still good. I also added some fresh ground horseradish (you can buy it that way) and worcestershire sauce. I left out the onions, but added the bacon half way through and it was awesome. I will definitely make again but with even less brown sugar.
