About this Cook
I'm a young happily married mother of two beautiful girls. I started taking culinary arts classes in high school and seemed to have a knack for it. My teacher suggested I apply to some culinary schools which I did and was accepted to Sullivan.Unfortanatly my legs gave out on me and made it impossible for me to continue onto a pastry chef career like I had intended, so now I am a strictly recreation cook, but I couldn't be happier with where my path has led! Best cooking to you all!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake! Cookies, cakes, brownies, pastries-if it's bad for you i love to cook it! I enjoy complicated recipies with many parts to them and it's even better if I have a whole meal like that!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love trying to learn to cook from my mom. She is one of those "Now you add just enough until it feels right, and then stir until it's how it should be" people! She's an amazing cook, but I never understand what she's talking about until I'm farmiliar with the recipe! Anytime we get to cook together it's a great time!
My cooking triumphs
I consider anything that cames out of the oven looking and tasting good a sucess! However I can't think of anything I would consider a triumph. I can find something wrong with anything I cook, so until an absolutly perfect creation comes along I guess I don't have one!
My cooking tragedies
Don't laugh, but when I was pregnant with my daughter I wanted to cook a turkey, so I bought a turkey at the store, thawed it out, and put it in the oven one day...10 hours later it still wasn't cooked (and yes I did have the oven on!) This led to a hormonal break down and a hysterical call to my best friend at work which included me on speaker phone to my boss, best friend, and co-workers sobbing "Jessica! I tried to cook a turkey and it won't get done and it's still bleeding and I don't know what to do!" You would have thought the world had come to an end! While it was humiliating for me this story has led to years of laughter for my friends! I will never cook a turkey while pregnant again!

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies I
These were amazing, however if you like some spice in your cookies you will need to add more cinnamon! Otherwise these had a great light texture and stay soft and chewy!

Marinade for Steak I
This was great! The only major change I made was I used regular mustard instead of dijon. I was only able to soak it for about 3 hours, but next time I will try for overnight to really make it great! Our steaks were as good as you can get anywhere!

Broccoli Cheese Soup
My kids loved this-which says alot! I will make this again, but next time I will add more broccoli and a little less cheese, it was a little overpowering. I also used 2 cloves of garlic which is the way to go.
