Sausage Spanish Rice

This is a good recipe. My celery didn't get cooked enough for my liking (I like it soft), and I used seasoned diced tomatoes. Thanks for the quick, yummy recipe.

Vanilla and Chocolate Delight

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2010
I used walnuts instead of pecan (only because it is what I had), and I took another reviewers suggestion and added the puddings separately in dollops and swirled creating a marble effect. I didn't much care for the dual taste that sometimes occurred. I will make this again for a large get together, however I will mix the puddings together like the recipe instructs. Thanks for the tasty and easy recipe.

Chocolate Banana Bread

This recipe is awesome. I usually hate to share it, but I must otherwise my clothes wouldn't fit. I do cut the recipe in half, and substitute part of the butter with applesauce. Thanks so much for the great recipe.

Cornbread Stuffing With Sausage

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2010
I love this recipe. I do however 1/2 the recipe and put it in an 8x8 or 9x9, depending on which pan I pull out. I usually just cook it for 30 min. I don't know if it helps, but after I have formed the cornbread into the dish I sprinkle it with chicken broth, (usually 1/4 C.). I also like to add 1 to 2 chopped hard boiled eggs. Thanks for the recipe.

Chocolate Oatmeal Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2010
I did make some adjustments like using applesauce for the butter, adding an additional T. of cocoa, and 1/2 t. of cinnamon. I thought the cake had a nice flavor, but wasn't expecting it to be so "chewy". This is the first time I have used oatmeal in a cake. Thanks for the recipe.

Cinnamon Bread I

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2010
I have made this several times, even gave my mom the recipe (She makes this twice a month now). I have tried the vinegar milk trick, but buttermilk really makes it taste better. I also took other reviewers advice and mixed the wet ingredients, minus the milk, and the flour separately. I then blended alternating milk and flour. I also doubled the topping, and used it after pouring half the batter. I find this to be more to my liking. This is a really easy and delicious recipe. Thanks

Cheesy Ranch Potato Bake

AWESOME! I have made this several times. I only spray the dish with non-stick spray and omit the rest of the butter. I have also used real bacon bits (awesome as well). I add garlic seasoning and ground red pepper as well.

Szechwan Shrimp

I have made this recipe several times, and it is great every time. I have tried it with breaded chicken & rice, then with veggies added, with shrimp & rice. I usually don't use green onions, just my preference. Thanks FOODGU1, awesome recipe.

Monterey Spaghetti

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2009
This recipe is awesome. I have made it several times, and shared it with anyone who loves spinach. I use fresh baby spinach in place of the frozen spinach. I find working with fresh is much easier then the frozen. I also use about 1C less of the Monterey cheese. I have made this with different types of cheese: pepper jack, mozzarella, mexican cheese blend, etc. and they all work if propotioned right. I cook in the oven at 350 for about 20 min covered, then uncovered topped with reserved 1/2C cheese and French Fried onions for about 10-15 min. I cannot thank you enough for a terrific recipe. Thanks Corwynn.

Glo's Sausage Fried Rice

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2009
I cut recipe in half, used cold brown rice, 2 eggs, 1 T. olive oil, no cabbage or bean sprouts (didn't have either), and added about 1/2 C frozen corn along with peas. I cooked sausage in a pan, then used my wok for the rest of the cooking. I waited until after adding the rice, then pushed mixture to the side and cooked the scrambled eggs in the wok. This came out great and cannot wait until I get some cabbage to add to it, I don't think that I will add bean sprouts though, just a personal preference. Thanks for the great recipe. Even my picky husband (never eats a stir fry) tried it and really liked it. **UPDATE...I finally got the cabbage to try this with, and let me tell you it makes the difference. I have made this several times using different vegetables, but I always have to use cabbage. Thanks again.

Coffee Shake

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2009
Wow, this was great. I tried to put chocolate chips in it like other reviewers suggested, but that didn't work out that great. I also increased the amt of coffee, love the taste. I also added whipped cream on top. I can see adding some cinnamon as well. Thanks Cherries for the recipe.

Mexican Fire Rice

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2009
I used brown rice, and El Pato (I don't like chunky hot sauce). This is definitely a great recipe by itself, and can definitely be tailored to fit whatever you are craving. I can see myself adding black olives, some jalapenos (I like the kick), and maybe corn next time I make it. Yes, there will definitely be a next time for this recipe. Oh yeah, I did drain the sausage, just too much grease not to. Thanks for the great recipe CHAUNIH.

Veggie Burgers

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2009
These were really great. I like spicy so I used about 2 tsp. ground red pepper, 1 tsp. black pepper, 1 T. worcestershire sauce. I also froze the patties, separated by wax paper (I was unable to cook the day I prepared them). When I cooked them I did so in a skillet, if you do that do not dip in flour, the flour does not cook correctly. I did add 1/4 to 1/2 C flour to the recipe. Thanks for a great alternative recipe!

Parmesan Spinach Balls

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2009
I only use fresh spinach, and I had saltine crackers that I needed to use so I used those instead of bread crumbs. They were excellent, but I know they would be much better with bread crumbs, expecially seasoned bread crumbs. Thanks for the recipe.

Fluffy Peanut Butter Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2009
I gave this a four because I really didn't like the "crust". I really love the pie part, but I think that next time I make this pie I will use a graham cracker crust or an oreo/chocolate cookie crust. Thanks for the recipe.

Brown Sugar Smokies

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2009
I used turkey bacon, and used a toothpick (2 to each one). I also cooked the smokies for about 10 min. longer and flipped them 1/2 way through, I like crispy bacon. I cannot believe how easy and good these were. I will definitely make these again. Thanks!

Beth's Scalloped Cabbage

Reviewed: May 25, 2009
I drained the cabbage for awhile to remove as much moisture as possible. I also used saltines instead of buttery rounds, (I think it would have been too "sweet" otherwise.) This was my first time cooking cabbage, and I can't wait to cook it again. Thanks for a great recipe.

Tuna Casserole II

Reviewed: May 25, 2009
I cut the recipe in 1/2. I didn't have red bell pepper, so that was omitted (though I am sure it would have been great in this dish.) I didn't julienne the veggies, but I diced them quite small. I also used macaroni noodles, and monterey/colby blend cheese. I did add a little milk (about 1/4 to 1/2 cup), thought it might be a little too dry otherwise. This is a great dish, I do have to say though, that even cutting it in 1/2 it filled up an 8x8 dish for me. Thanks for the great recipe.
