Spicy Basil Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2008
This meal is fantastic! It's different from the same old chicken and is not too spicy for the non-spicy lover. I had to buy a lot of items for this recipe, so I made adjustments where I could to save money. I used olive oil instead of chili oil, and used about 1 and a half tsp dried basil (from a spice rack I already had) instead of fresh. For the hot peppers, I wasn't sure what to buy, so I bought three small peppers that the produce man said were not too hot. I cut out the insides and sliced into circles to make it pretty. Also, I couldn't find oyster sauce, only "oyster-flavoured sauce" but it worked fine. I used a small can of mushrooms too, because I hate having leftover mushrooms in the fridge that I know I'll never use, but that doesn't really matter all that much. It turned out delicious, juicy, flavourful and not too spicy, although I did drink lots of water with it. It has a wonderful kick. Definitely serve with rice. My hubby gave this five stars!

Gourmet Pretzel Rods

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2009
Great Recipe. I broke the rods in half and only did half the amount of caramel at a time, just in case I ruined it. I didn't really measure out the water, but it seems the less you use, the thicker your caramel will be on your pretzels. I like it thick, so when you put it on parchment paper, it gathers in a little pool. More caramel to cover in chocolate! Put the caramel sticks in the fridge or freezer to harden. They were so much easier to work with cold. But once they're covered it chocolate, you don't have to worry about that anymore. No nuts for me, but I did add white chocolate for presentation. They were sooooo delicious! Definitely something I'll make every year, or every other year for christmas.

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2008
I was craving Cinnabon cinnamon buns but don't live anywhere near one, so I figured I could probably find a recipe somewhere, and here it is! These are sooooooooo yummy! My sisters-in-law were all envious! A lot of work, but definitly worth it. Double the icing! I make the dough by hand, use instructions from Mother's cinnamon rolls. When tripling the recipe, do not triple salt, use three packets of yeast. Use hand mixer for icing. 15 minutes is too long in the oven.

Strawberry Limeade

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2010
Needed to use up limes and strawberries so this recipe was perfect! Squeezed real limes for the juice. Used a pound of fresh strawberries. Used about 2 cups of ice cubes. I would have added more sugar if I wasn't on a diet, but it was still super delicious!

Amazing Italian Lemon Butter Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2008
Way more work than you think. And it turns out I don't like artichoke hearts. The sauce didn't work for me either. I will not be making this again.

Crispy and Creamy Doughnuts

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2008
My husband said these were BETTER than Krispy Kreme! They are delicious! I halved the dough recipe and it still made PLENTY! I also used butter instead of shortening, which worked fine. I kneaded it all by hand, which is way more fun, especially if you're doing it with kids. Do not be discouraged if you do not have a donut cutter. After I rolled out the dough so it was still pretty thick, I used sissors to cut it into short strips and made them into donut shapes. It was tons of fun because you can make big ones, small ones, thick ones or skinny ones! And why stop there? Why not make letters or fun shapes? We didn't do that this time, but I don't see why you couldn't. I will definitely make these again but probably not for another year or so because they are so fattening!

Slow Cooker Chicken Parisienne

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2008
My hubby LOVED this meal. I, however, wasn't sure about it. I NEVER cook with alcohol and had to buy white cooking wine and I'm not sure if I liked it. But because my husband loved it, I'll probably make it again (especially since I have a bottle of white cooking wine to use up).

Pumpkin Cake Roll

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2011
I didn't have wax paper, so I used parchment paper and greased it with butter. Still worked great. Used lots of icing sugar on the dish towel. My nieces and nephews loved it!

Angie's Perfect Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2009
The time it takes to make these rolls in innacurate. With all the pounding and rising, it feels like forever! But, they are SUPER delicious, so totally worth it. Very fluffy! I let the dough double, then I pounded, then let it rise again, then pounded and split into rolls and let it rise one more time in the pan. Made 35 rolls, which is too much for us. Should halve it next time.

Meatball Orzo Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2009
Yummy yummy soup! But way too much lemon juice. I used bottled lemon juice, and next time I would only use half as much as the recipe calls for.

Slow Cooker Taco Soup

I will definitely be making this again! My husband loved it and was craving more the next day. We ate it a spoonful of sour cream and cheese on top, with tortilla chips of course. It's also very good with rolls. Makes great leftovers!
