Great recipe Ruth! I added a pound of ground venison to the recipe, added savory and oregano to the flour to coat meat in, doubled the basil, used beef broth instead of water added red wine as suggested by others, 3 garlic cloves to roaster, (a glug of beer added by my hubby), and a can of drained diced tomatoes. I cut the beef into bite size pieces and did the same with the veggies and it was cooked to perfection in about an hour and 20 minutes. Will make again, although hubby likes it better without the tomato products. Added a dollop of sour cream on top of mine and it was like a baked potatoe kinda thing. Thanks!
