Slow Cooker Ham

Great way to use a picnic ham. I used a 3.75 lb ham with one C. brown sugar and 1/4 oj and 1/4 water. I cooked it on low for about 4 hours. It was very flavorful and quite moist.

Creamy Chicken Lasagna

Amazing...with a few modifications. Seasoned Chicken w/italian herbs. Added parmesan, fresh basil and spinach to the cream cheese mixture. Used homemade spaghetti sauce. The rich cream flavor is restaurant quality!

Rhubarb Strawberry Crunch

Read reviews and took the advice of many: Used 5 C strawberries, 4 1/2 C rhubarb and 5 Tbs. flour. Followed the rest of the recipie as is. Wonderful and will make again. All my guests raved about it! Thanks for sharing!

Pork Chops with Fresh Tomato, Onion, Garlic, and Feta

Fabulous flavor! Made a few changes: Added 1T. of sugar to the tomatoes due to winter tomatoes lacking flavor. Used 3 T. of fresh basil, not dried. And grilled a pork tenderloin instead of the chops. I also added a little Ken's Steakhouse creamy balsamic dressing. Severed over angel hair pasta! Everyone LOVED it! Will make again!

Butternut and Acorn Squash Soup

This was a great soup but I went ahead and made some minor changes: I doubled recipe except for the cream cheese. Used 1 leek and 1 small sweet onion, used both cinnamon and nutmeg. I also added all ingredients except for the squash to a stockpot and brought to a light boil. Then mashed the squash and added it to the pot. Once everything was combined I put it through a food processor. This is a great fall recipe and will definitely make again!

Sauteed Swiss Chard with Parmesan Cheese

Fabulous! I have never used SC either but I will make this again. I doubled the "sauce" ingredients and added a bunch of beet leaves as well, due to my recent CSA pick up. Thanks for the great recipe!

Chicken Florentine Casserole

Excellent flavor! I did change a few things per other reviews. 1. Sautéed mushrooms, onion (1/4 chopped), garlic and spinach then placed this mixture on the bottom of baking dish 2. Used real bacon 3. Pan seared the chicken breast first to seal in the juices...used the same pan I fried the bacon in. Thanks for sharing. This was one of my favorites from this site and my 2 year old even ate it :)

Chocolate-Cran-Oat Cookies

These were excellent, however I did what I hate people do...really changed the original recipe. SORRY!! If you like to make things "healthier" keep reading. Changes I made include: 1/2 Butter-1/2 applesauce, added 1/4 white sugar, used 2C. Whole wheat flour + 1/4 C. White flour, used all white chips and dried cherries, added 1T. cinnamon, a few dashes of nutmeg and 2t. of vanilla extract. They were a cake like cookie that EVERYONE enjoyed!

Tomato and Basil Quiche

This was FABULOUS! Great recipe, thanks for sharing! I did make just a few changes. 1.Used bread crumbs instead of flour 2.Added about 5 Tbs. of fresh basil...a must! 3.Used fresh parmesan 4.Sauted about a 1/2 cup mushrooms and 1/2 cup onions with 2 cloves garlic in butter. Let cool and added to the mix. Overall, this was a winner. All my girlfriends wanted the recipe.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

VERY YUMMY! This was great and easy to prepare. Here are the small changes I made, due to other reviews: 1) Added 3 chopped carrots and 2 chopped celery stalks. 2.) Used 3/4 can of chicken broth to cover ingredients, no water. 3.) did not add butter in the sauce but instead spread 2 Tbs. of butter on the biscuits before dunking them in the sauce. 4.) Used only 1 can of biscuits (more than enough) 5.) cooked on high for 4 1/2 total...After 3 hours I shredded the chicken, added a can of campbell's chicken gravy and added the biscuits - flattened each one and pulled apart in quarters 6.) My chicken was mostly frozen and I seasoned it with: salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder and poultry seasoning...Ok, Ok, I know! I should just rewrite this as a new recipe! A wonderful start though :)

Strawberry Coffee Cake

Very disappointed! I was so excited for a new strawberry recipe but this is not it! I only made two changes-used almonds instead of walnuts due to an allergy and added a tsp. of vanilla. My whole family thought it lacked flavor!!

Venison Bacon Burgers

Super Yummy! I used onion b/c I was out of shallots and it was still excellent. A great burger recipe. My 2 year old ate a whole buger and he is super picky when it comes to meat! Thanks for sharing.

Broccoli, Rice, Cheese, and Chicken Casserole

Was a pretty decent casserole. I made a few changes: 1. Used 2 large chix breast that I cooked on the stove top with onion, garlic, spices and a little chix broth. 2. Used fresh broccoli 3. Used regular long grain white rice and cooked it with chix broth instead of water. 4. only used 1/4 cup milk due to other reviews on being too soupy. 5. Used shredded cheese. 6. Omitted the butter It turned out very nice, not too soupy or dry. Would make again.

Cream of Chicken with Wild Rice Soup

This was a good start to what could be an AWSOME recipe!! The changes I made are as follows. 1.) Used 3 chicken breast, skin on, bone in. I roasted these in the oven at 375 for 45 minutes then separated meat. 2.) Doubled the veggie amount and added 4 chopped cloves of garlic and a package of fresh mini portabella's . 3.) Used real chicken broth instead of water. 4.) Added a pinch of thyme and 3 bay leaves with the veggies and also added the wine at that time. 5.) Used one package of Lipton Chicken rice and one package of Uncle Ben’s quick herb and butter(it's what I had on hand). Made these as directed, but I decreased the water by a ½ cup and did not cook completely. 6.) Only used 5 cups of milk. 7.) Used butter instead of Margarine. After I made these changes, I would give this recipe 5 stars!!! My husband loved it and said it tasted like it came from a restaurant!!
