Penuche Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2008
well, dont beat this with an electric mixer, after about 30 seconds, this turned into a huge crumbly mess. I'm working on my second batch, and i decided to add a bit of corn syrup, and see if that helps. will also try to use the condensed milk. hope that works out better. it seems like alot of other people had a lot of luck with this one, so i will try again. but if it fails again, i'll let you know the second attempt failed! this turned into a huge crumbly mess again! i tried to stir with a spoon, checked the candy thermometer, did not overcook. not sure what happened, but i spent several wasted hours, and wont try this one again.

Honey Grilled Shrimp

I had no Worcester sauce, but they turned out great without it. I will eventually try it as written, but if your halfway through dinner and don't want to stop, make it without it.. still wonderful.

Authentic Mexican Tortillas

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2008
pretty good,.. here's a tip though. I followed the suggustions about reducing the salt, and used really hot (in the microwave) water, and divided dough into golf ball sized balls. Then cover and let rest for an hour under a damp towel. Another thing is I only rolled out two tortillas at a time while i was cooking them. if you try to roll them all out, then cook them out, they will dry out! roll them out thin, too thick and they will be more like pancakes. Oh, be sure that your comal or pan that you cook them on is not too hot, or they will cook to fast and not puff up. I used med/low heat. As you cook them, be sure and place them inside/under a kitchen towel. This helps them stay soft, and keeps them warm. Remember that tortillas take time and practice to master, and i think that this should be considered an art, but my kids enjoy guessing what the shape of their tortillas are. This seemed like a good recipe, and i will continue to make them. This is an authentic recipe though, so if your looking for a store bought taste, just buy them.

Easy Biscuit Mixture

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2008
great recipe! I made them into sausage biscuits and froze them for my husband to eat in the morning. He is counting them down, and has asked me to make more for him before we run out! I made the mix according to the directions, and them followed the direction on the bisquick box, and they turned out great. I think next time I will try to roll them out a little thicker though, they were a little shorter than KFC's!

this is the best bread i have ever made! Its light, slightly sweet, and taste great alone! I did double the recipe, threw it in to mix in the bread machine, and then threw the dough in two bread pans! prefect the way it is, dont change a thing until you try it as written first!

Cranberry Orange Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2008
pretty good,. not the best i've ever had, but still pretty good. I did make the changes others had recomended, by adding a splash of vanilla and increased the OJ to 3/4 cup. I also made 4 loaves (big family) and in two loaves we chopped the cranberries. Also, mine took a full 60 min, but i did test at 50 just to be sure.

Asian Orange Chicken

great,.. i think the orange zest is a bit much,.. other than that,. it's just like the "express" stuff. I'll never go out of my way to buy this again,.. this is too good homemade and so much cheaper to feed the family
