Addictive Sweet Potato Burritos

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2009
We all liked this recipe, even my meat-atarian parents! My only thing with it is a) they were a bit hard for me to roll up (probably due to lack of experience) and b) I would have liked the filling to have more spice. Overall good, and I will be making these tasty treats again.

Black Magic Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2009
For a chocolate cake (just not my fave) this earns its keep for sure. The batter is sooo thin, you won't think it will come out right, but it does. I split my batter into 3 9in round pans and two cupcakes for testing. I followed the direction exactly, using homemade buttermilk (milk and lemon juice). I'm sensitive to caffeine so the tester cupcakes gave me quite a little zip! My only problem was the cake was so moist that it was difficult to cut off the tops of the layers without it crumbling, but I managed alright. I popped them in the freezer and will shape them up a bit more after they're frozen. I plan on using Caramel Frosting V for the filling and Rich Chocolate Frosting for the outside(both from this site).

Special Lemonade

Reviewed: May 20, 2009
I liked this sooo much, but a small glass was enough. I got a tummy ache from drinking too much! But really, a wonderful concoction in moderation :)

Indian Style Basmati Rice

Reviewed: May 20, 2009
Very flavorful, loved the cinnamon. I even burned the cumin seeds and it was STILL good. Set the fire alarm off when I added the water to the rice though :P

Absolutely Perfect Palak Paneer

Reviewed: May 20, 2009
This was not spicy enough for us... maybe my chilies weren't big enough since they were quite small. Also, too much liquid. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with the recipe though, it was probably my lack of experience in cooking this sort of food. Next time I will add more spices, less sour cream, drain the spinach better, and cut the paneer into smaller chunks. But I WILL try this again :) BTW, very labor intensive so be wary, an extra pair of helping hands in the kitchen would be advised!

Kelly's Apple Cocoa Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2009
This cake is very very good. Make sure you let it cool completely in the pan on a rack before trying to unmold it. Loosen the cake in the pan with a knife and place a plate over the pan, then flip it over and tap a little on the bottom of the pan. Some of the chocolate chips stuck to the bottom of the pan, I just stuck them back on the top of the cake lol. I made a simple glaze out of powdered sugar, cinnamon, and milk and it was a great addition. This cake is very moist and delicious, although I don't know about calling it a "chocolate" cake, it tastes more like a spice cake with a little chocolate in it. Either way, the flavor and texture is great. Don't unmold while still warm!!! It will crumble and fall apart. This one is staying in my recipe box.

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2009
Very good for a thick brownie. We ate them warm and they were very moist and had a great flavor. Rich and moist enough to not need any icing. Good stuff. I might put them in a larger pan next time just cause I like my brownies not as thick. Update: I made a batch of these and frosted them with the Rich Chocolate Frosting from this site, OMG- to die for!

Chai Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2009
As an icing this is really good, it's a bit soft for a true buttercream. I added one extra tea bag to my 1/4 c water and I could just taste the tea. I might even suggest using 4 tea bags if you want a noticeable chai flavor. I used this to fill and crumb coat my birthday cake, then I covered it with the rolled buttercream fondant. Very good!

Rolled Buttercream Fondant

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2009
I just made this a few days ago to cover my birthday cake. It was delicious and looked great. Make sure you chill it for quite a while so it hardens up, it is very soft to begin with.

7-Layer Meatless Tortilla Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2009
BTW, I used whole wheat tortillas, organic canned pinto and black beans, and fresh salsa instead of the Picante sauce, it was still delicious.

These are so good. Sweet and homey, I love them. I'm making them for a get-together tomorrow, but I don't know if my dad can stay out of them!

Awesome Asparagus Sandwich

One of the best recipes I've tried on this site! And I don't even like tomato, and I've never tried asparagus.... so delicious. The sauce was very runny though *shrug* tasted good!

Peachy Keen Smoothie

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2009
I'm not used to "health" food really, so my star rating is based on the fact that I'm used to sugar injected uber rich smoothies. The taste of the oats and wheat germ were quite overpowering for me and the texture was funky, but my boyfriend liked it. I think I'll use frozen peaches next time.

Pumpkin Whoopie Pies

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2008
These tasted very commercial to me. Maybe it was the shortening. But I gave them as a gift and the receiver was pleased. I did have an allergic reaction on my fingers after spooning out the dough though, so I only made one batch! :(

Caramel Filled Chocolate Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2008
These were some of the best cookies I made this Christmas, very rich and delicious! They were so chewy and good. I chopped the nuts very fine so I didn't have big chunks of them in the dough.
