About this Cook
Professional freelance photographer by trade.
My favorite things to cook
Creole and Cajun food, Chinese, Thai, Italian, Seafood, and Desserts
My favorite family cooking traditions
Learning from my mother that it is possilbe to burn almost anything until the remains can only be served in an urn.
My cooking triumphs
Doing the catering for a Mardi Gras party at my house and making enough to feed 60 of my friends and having every dish come put perfectly.
My cooking tragedies
My first Thanksgiving with my partner. I tried to cook a turkey which was a total flop. It didn't thaw right, and not being experienced with it I tried to thaw it in the sink, and then I tried to removed the neck and giblets...From the wrong end. After an hour under warm water it seemed thawed so I popped it in the oven and basted that little #$!@ with butter every 30 mins and after 4 plus hours of cooking it was still pink, so I cut it up and put it in the microwave and while it was cooking we sat down and started on the side dishes and by the time the bloody bird was done cooking we were so full we couldn't eat it. I swore then and there never to attempt cooking another one again, and I've stuck to that pledge for 17 Thanksgivings!

Baked Tofu Bites
I made this as part of a vegetarian meal the other night, and my partner raved about it! I've been searching for something to do with Tofu besides just using it in stir fry and Berber Stew and this was perfect. I'll be making this quite a bit I think.

Cathy's Banana Bread
I made this for a second time and this time I used non fat sour cream and margarine and whole wheat flour and I addded a whole pint of blueberries and it came out so moist and delicious! I took it with me to a meeting over the weekend and my friends couldn't stp talking about it, let alone devouring nearly all of the two loaves I had made! This has cemented it's place on my list of best desserts ever!

Ma Po Tofu
This was good, but I found I really needed to dump in the hot chili's to bring it up to any kind of flavor as I thought it was rather bland.
