Mexican Bean Burgers

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2011
This is tasty, but some alterations need to be made. Cut way down on the salsa (I used 1 cup) and you'll get a better consistency. Add some cumin (I used 1 tsp.) and some cayenne pepper (1/2 tsp to start). I also added about 1 1/2 tsp. of garlic. With these changes, the burgers turn out great. Thanks for the recipe!

Tortellini Chowder

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2011
Fantastic! I made two small changes to the recipe: first I used yellow bell pepper (it's all I had on hand). Second, I used milk rather than half-and-half (didn't have time to run to the store for more half-and half, I didn't have enough). Other than that I kept to the recipe and absolutely loved it. It's mildly spicy but still very comforting. I enjoyed the mix of potatoes and tortellini, but I can see where others may not have liked it as much. I'll be making this again for sure, but maybe I'll mix the flour with water or some milk (as someone else noted the oil does come up to the top of the pot). Thanks for the recipe!

Stuffed Green Peppers

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2011
This is great, the with some changes that I made (just my personal preference). I used brown rice (it's all I had in the pantry) and I used shredded pepperjack cheese rather than swiss. I also added some cumin to the black beans. It's a tasty, filling dish for vegetarians; I enjoyed it very much. Thanks for the recipe!

Roasted Spicy Mustard Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2011
Great flavor but a bit dry. I will be making these again since they are so easy, but I'll add a bit of olive oil to the mix. Thanks for the recipe!

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2011
Excellent cookies! I used all butter b/c that is what i had on hand, but other than that I kept to the recipe. I baked them for 10 minutes and let them finish "cooking" on the sheets. this resulted in chewy, deliciously sweet and spicy cookies. Thanks for the recipe!

Crescent Pizza Pockets

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2011
Quick and easy, can be made for a snack or pair it with a salad for lunch. I'm vegetarian so I left out the pepperoni and used green peppers and mushrooms instead. Other than that I followed the recipe and was very pleased with the results. Pillsbury Crescent "recipe creations" worked really well for this recipe; didn't have to worry about closing up those perforations. thanks for the recipe!

Creamy Mango Smoothie

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2011
Very refreshing. I used frozen mango chunks so decided that omitting the ice cubes would okay and still keep the drink cold. Other than that I followed the recipe and was very pleased. It turned out quite creamy and with a nice mango flavor. Thanks for the recipe!

Easy Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2011
These are fantastic just as written. The batter is easy to work with and they bake up to chewy perfection. I followed the recipe exactly, making sure that my butter was super-soft just as Rolanda's review suggested. I also chilled the batter for 1/2 hour before baking; I've found that this helps prevent spreading with almost all the cookies I make, so its become standard procedure for me now. These are yummy eaten plain, with sprinkles, or even with icing. Thanks so much for the recipe!

Greek Grilled Cheese

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2011
Five stars just as written. I didn't think feta in a grilled cheese sandwich would be very good, but I was very happily surprised. This makes for some great, rich comfort food. Thanks for the recipe!

Quinoa with Chickpeas and Tomatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2011
I really enjoyed this. Its filling and fresh tasting. Next time I'm going to try adding some onion to it and (as others have suggested) cilantro rather than parsley. This dish is absolutely a five - star lunch as written. Thanks for the recipe!

Baked Oatmeal I

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2011
Delicious! The only change I made was to use 1/2 cup applesauce rather than oil, just to make it healthier. It was so yummy coming hot out of the oven with some milk poured on top. I also like that I can play around with the recipe, adding different fruits and nuts for variety. Next time I think I'll try using splenda, just to cut down on the calories even more. Thanks so much for this recipe, its really tasty :)

Cheesy Beans and Rice

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2011
This is good stuff. I recommend adding more beans and using salsa rather than the diced tomatoes. I'd definitely make it again, very filling and good for you. Thanks for the recipe!

Vegetarian Chickpea Sandwich Filling

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2011
Really good when stuffed into a pita. As written it is a bit bland for my tastes, so I took the advice of others and added some mustard and that made it perfect for me. For such simple ingredients it really makes a great lunch. Thanks for the recipe!

Creamy Apple Cinnamon Raisin Oatmeal

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2011
This is pretty tasty once you make a lot of adjustments. Water just doesn't make it creamy, milk is much better. Two tablespoons of brown sugar makes this perfectly sweet. A light pinch of salt rounds things out nicely. As written, this is a three star recipe -- a good idea, but needs some work. Thanks for the recipe, I did really enjoy it once I made the adjustments.

Gypsy Soup

This was fantastic! Since I'm vegetarian I used veggie broth, but I kept everything else the same. This is such a filling soup with so much flavor, really great on a cold winter day. Thanks for the recipe!

Jamaican Burgers

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2011
Fantastic burgers! These have a great flavor and, if you add the breadcrumbs a little at a time until you are able to form the patties, they come together beautifully. I didn't fry the patties, I baked them and even then they stayed together and weren't dry at all. This recipe is a real winner. Thanks, Hannah!

Crazy Cake

Five stars for a chocolate cake without eggs or milk in it. Its not going to be exactly like more traditional chocolate cakes but it is a great cake for those who can't have eggs. I made this exactly as written and I wouldn't change a thing. Thanks for the recipe!

Tomato-Cream Sauce for Pasta

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2011
Five star recipe as written when it comes to the flavor, but this recipe does result in a pasta sauce that is rather thin. Others have mentioned thickening it with flour so I'll try that next time; I just like to try a recipe as written the first time around. The bf and I really enjoyed this one and I'll be making it often. Thanks for the recipe!
