About this Cook
Cooking while drinking a glass of wine and talking to my boyfriend sitting on the couch makes for a wonderful evening! Currently I'm in a downtown apartment and am limited on growing my own ingredients, but soon I want to have a vegetable and herb garden, and someday I want enough land to really work with farm to table cooking.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook almost anything, especially trying new recipes. I'm gluten-free and try to eat as organically and healthy as possible.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I've been a plan-as-you-go cook, experimenting with different concoctions in the kitchen since I was little. My parents were always very trusting of my crazy recipes and bold moves, even though I could sense their fear haha (But, my food always did come out tasty!). To this day, when I'm cooking for my family at my parent's house, I'll respond to their questions about my food with "we'll see!" and everyone laughs, thinking about how some things never change.
My cooking triumphs
For my 21st birthday, I went on a cruise to the Bahamas with my family and was served an awesome gluten-free, flour-free chocolate cake. It was so creamy, chocolately, and delicious, we took the extra cake from dinner back to our rooms, and my brother and I ended up finishing the entire thing by the time the cruise was over! A little more than a year later, I figured out the recipe and recreated it perfectly:)
My cooking tragedies
I attempted to make my own wine the fall of my junior year at college--well, I completely ignored the physics of it and didn't leave an air opening for the pressure build-up. In the middle of the night there was a really loud BOOM, and when I checked in the morning my entire kitchen was covered in wine, and the white ceiling had a giant blueish-purple explosion all over it. Ooops!

Cowboy Caviar
This is very good. It makes a HUGE bowl... a lot more than shown in the pic, at least 10 servings. I added the zest and juice of one lime, and made sure to add enough cilantro that you got some in each bite!

Sweet Potato Oranges
I didn't use the teaspoon of flour it called for in the pecans, still great!!
