Company Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2008
The flavors just did not go well together. There was only one person in my family of 5 that could tolerate finishing their supper the night I fixed this huge casserole. It was very rich.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2008
The meatloaf itself is a wonderful recipe to start with. We like it very much and I will always use it as a starter. But the brown sugar mixture is bad. I followed the idea of some of the other reviewers and put the sugar on top but brown sugar just does not belong on a meatloaf! My whole family agreed that it is much tastier without the sugar.

Brooklyn Girl's Penne Arrabiata

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2008
LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!! This is an awesome recipe. So delicious! My whole family asks for it on a regular basis now. Sometimes I just leave the chicken seperate from the sauce and noodles. The breading is so yummy on the chicken too.

Slow Cooker Pizza

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2008
This turned out awesome! My family loved it. I almost thought that it was going to have too much sauce but it needed all the sauce it calls for - very yummy and the pepperoni added just the right zing to it also.

My family loved this gravy. It was perfect over home made biscuits. The big amount of meat in the gravy is so delicious!

Pecan Pie I

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2008
This was "the best pecan pie we have ever had". I received complements like that through all of Thanksgiving. I am making it again for Christmas. I am not a big pecan pie lover because they just seem like a pile of sugar but this one actually tasted like pecan - like it should! My husband was so excited because this is his favorite kind of pie.

Bacon Scalloped Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2008
This did not have good flavor. It was very bland and not enough sauce. It was a waste to fix because everyone disliked it.

Baked Milk Fish

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2009
Seems to me this wastes an awful lot of milk. Plus I did like the recipe said and after 15 minutes in the preheated oven it was nowhere near being done. I then up'ed the temperature to 400 and had to cook it for another 15 minutes. In all it took 30 minutes plus I had to raise the temperature. In the end the fish had good flavor if you like the fish bland. This didn't amount to much seasoning on it at all. Could have used more lemon pepper. (and I tested my oven temperature after this and my oven is working correctly)

Chicken Wild Rice Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2009
This soup was a BIG winner for my family. I had my kids going back for seconds and thirds! We all loved it. The only think I did different than the recipe was that I did not buy premade chicken broth, I made my own. I cooked the chicken I would use for this recipe several hours before making the soup and made a wonderful homemade broth to start my soup with. By doing this I cut down on the sodium contained in the store bought broth (considering you already get some with the cream of mushroom soup they ask you to add also), plus I just think it tasted better anyway. I will use this recipe over and over again.

Roxie's Bran Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2010
These muffins are perfect! My family loved them. My parents stopped by and they each had one and loved them too. I have been asked for the recipe! I followed the recipe almost all the way. I changed two things, the first was that I just omitted the raisins completely and the second thing was that I didn't have banana's so I substituted 1/2 c. yogurt instead. They came out wonderfully! Very moist and great tasting. Thanks for this recipe. It doesn't need any changes really!

Mulberry Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2010
This pie turns out way too sweet. If you want syrup tasting pie then this is the recipe for you. The sugar could be cut in half at least. I won't be trying it again soon because I don't have any more mulberries right now. All I could think about when I was eating this is that it tastes like one of those little hand-held pies you buy in the store that are individually wrapped. It reminded me of something you would put on top of pancakes! Leave out the crust and you have a wonderful topping for pancakes or french toast.

Fresh Cherry Crisp

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2010
This is a winner. My parents visited when I made this and my Dad told me it reminded him of his Mom's crisp that she made when he was younger. This recipe keeps the tart flavor of the cherries and has that wonderful crisp on top too. We loved it!!!

Roasted Potatoes with Greens

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2010
AWESOME!! We love these potatoes with just about any grilled out dinner. It is perfect with chicken, fish or just about any meal I can think of. I have also some fresh Thyme and it is wonderful too. My family isn't too excited about the spinach leaves but personally I think they are delicious. This is a winner in our house!
