Satiny Chocolate Glaze

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2008
I used this to glaze a double chocolate bundt cake. I don't have a double boiler so I melted the ingredients in the microwave with excellent results. It was easy to prepare and a perfect topping to my cake.

Lisa's Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2008
This is perfect when you're in the mood for chocolate cake. And, super easy to make. I baked this just as written and found it to be easy and yummy. I used the Satiny Chocolate Glaze recommended by other reviewers. Perfect. I made this for my husband's birthday cake. He was pleased. I think you will be too.

Double Layer Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie

Reviewed: May 26, 2008
Easy and decadent. What could be better. I opted to make this in a springform pan and used a graham cracker crust recipe from this website. Super good and everybody loved it.

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2008
This is a great recipe for decorating sugar cookies. I used slightly more milk than called for in order to get the right consistency. Just add the extra milk a few drops at a time until you get the spreadability you need. The icing turns out shiny and really dresses up your cookies.

Ultimate Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2008
I've conducted a lifelong search for the greatest sugar cookie. I'm looking for a slightly cakey texture which holds it shape during baking. Sadly, this cookie did not fill the bill. I followed the recipe exactly. The flavor and texture are pretty good but they spread during cooking. I used "Sugar Cookie Icing" from Allrecipes with excellent results. Don't get me wrong, this is a good cookie, just not what I was looking for.

Doctor Bird Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2008
I was looking for a moist banana cake and this one really fit the bill. I agree with another reviewer about the time necessary to bake it. I used a bundt pan and removed it from the oven after an hour. It is perfect. No need to frost or glaze this.

Pistachio Cake III

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2008
This was the perfect dessert for St Patrick's Day dinner! I tossed in a cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips just for fun. I didn't have the green food coloring but it turned out a lovely shade of green nonetheless. How fun!

Mrs. Sigg's Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2008
This recipe really fills the bill when you're craving good, old-fashioned peanut butter cookies. I used regular shortening and all-natural chunky peanut butter (that's what I had on hand). I baked them at 375 for 10 minutes and they came out perfect. The texture is just the right mix of crunchy and chewy. For best results....have all ingredients at room temperature before mixing.

Restaurant-Style Santa Fe Pasta

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2008
What a great pasta salad. This one has great color and texture. The spices added just enough of heat for me. I cooked the chicken breast outside on the grill. I took this to an office potluck and it was enjoyed by everyone.

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2008
The name just about says it all. I've tried many a chocolate chip cookie recipe and this one comes about as close to perfection as I have found. I made no alterations to the recipe. Baking time of eleven minutes seemed to be just right. I used salted butter and my favorite chips Hershey's Special Dark.

Texas Sheet Cake II

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2008
This recipe makes a delicious chocolatey, fudgey cake. It's a down-home-type cake (not particularly elegant) but a lovely way to end a family dinner. This one really satisfies a chocolate cake craving.

Coffee Shop Corn Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2008
This muffin recipe is absolutely perfect. No need to change any of the ingredients. I baked two batches of these today. One batch went to a potluck and the other served at Sunday supper. They are slightly sweet and have a marvelous tenderness and not crumbly. I served these with butter, honey and strawberry preserves. Simply delicious.

Chili - The Heat is On!

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2008
This recipe produced a nice bean-free chile. I used two chiles after removing most of their seeds and ribs. There was still plenty of heat in the chili. I also used a 24oz bottle of Beck's dark ale with terrific results. This is not a thick, fork-stands-upright-in-the-bowl chile. I served it over brown basmati rice with grated cheese and sour cream one night and over baked potato the next. Like most chiles, this one tastes better the next day.

Soft Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2008
The reason this cookie recipe has such high ratings is simple: it makes a GREAT COOKIE. I baked two batches of these to take to a potluck. I added craisins & nuts to one batch; butterscotch chips to the other. Both batches turned out wonderfully soft with just the right amount of crunch. As always...use room temperature ingredients and watch them closely in the oven. Overbaking will create a disappointing result. Thanks for passing along this wonderful cookie recipe.

Chicken Breasts with Balsamic Vinegar and Garlic

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2008
We really enjoyed this chicken dish. The balsamic vinegar, chicken broth, thyme and mushrooms make a wonderfully fragrant sauce. I followed another reviewer's advice and served this with roasted red potatoes. The leftovers were good, too.

Cyndi's Shrimp Fajitas

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2007
Everyone at my table enjoyed these fajitas. Very easy to make. I used cooked, frozen shrimp. I think it would be best to use raw shrimp for this. I served this with fresh avocado and some fresh salsa. Very yummy.

Buttermilk Cinnamon Bread

This was easy to prepare and turned out pretty well although not as moist as I would like. The recipe made two nice-sized loaves. I made one with nuts on top and one without.

Red and Green Christmas Jalapeno Jelly

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2007
This is a great recipe for pepper jelly. I would have preferred a bit more heat, but that is very dependant upon the peppers used. I took the advice of other reviewers and added about 1/2 tsp red food coloring...it looks very pretty in the jars. I made six 1/2 pint jelly jars. Great for gifts around the holidays.
