Tangy Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2009
I was hit with unexpected company and time was running into the dinner hour. I had a whole cut-up chicken, onion soup mix, French dressing (not Russian) and orange marmalade (not apricot preserves) so I gave it a go. My guests thought I was a gourmet chef! I served it with rice and canned green beans (all I had on hand) and everyone raved! Thank you Lisa for a super simple and delicious recipe!

Easy Lemon Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2009
These were a HUGE hit with my youngest daughter (19) who is still a very picky eater! She doesn't care for many cookies or cakes but she said this recipe is a keeper! I didn't have lemon extract but did have a "plastic lemon" in the fridge. They turned out beautifully!

Cheddar Artichoke Quiche Cups

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2009
This is good but if you increase the artichoke hearts to two jars instead of one; then decrease the cheese by half, it's perfect! I also poured the ingredients into a 9x9" pan and then cut it into 1" squares when cooled.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2009
For the thousands of five star reviews I was very surprised and disappointed in how bland this recipe was. I made this for Easter which was a big mistake because I was trying to impress my guests. It made a huge amount but no one said a word and there was more than half left over that I ended up throwing away. :o( I followed the recipe to the letter so I don't what went wrong. I won't be making this again. Too much work and very bland.

Garlic Green Beans

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2009
So simple yet so delicious! Two cloves of garlic is plenty (an entire head of garlic would be deadly ;o) This is one of my go-to recipes. YUMMM! Thank you!

Soy-Sesame Dressing

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2009
This is okay, but I prefer my version...get rid of the sugar, red pepper flakes and mayonnaise. Add a 1/4 cup of Canola oil, cut the soy sauce in half and use a tsp. of sesame tahini. YUMMMY!!! Especially on fresh greens!

Greek Honey Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2009
I made this cake for my daughter's school project "Greek Food Day". As usual she gave me NO notice that this project was due "tomorrow" so I had no time to make Baklava and I needed something in a hurry. It worked out well because I had all the ingredients except walnuts on hand, so I omitted nuts altogether. I used fresh orange zest and it gave the cake a heavenly flavor especially with the cinnamon! I didn't have a full cup of honey so I cut the glaze recipe in half. As it turned out, the full glaze recipe would've been way too much and half was just right. I took the advice of another reviewer and didn't boil the glaze...seems strange to boil honey... and I just simmered it until the white sugar had dissolved. I was a little disappointed in how small the cake was... it didn't rise much at all which was surprising since this little 9-inch cake calls for THREE eggs, baking powder and salt. Aside from that, it was a good cake and the kids loved it. I don't know that I'll make it again, but it was very good for what I needed.

Chewy Chocolate Cookies I

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2009
OMG!!! These are amazing! I was not expecting these to be sooo good! I was looking for a cookie recipe without brown sugar (I love the ingredient search feature on this site!) and I wanted to make cookies with what I just had on hand. I got a very pleasant surprise with how exceptionally good these were! I used half butter and half butter-flavor Crisco (to make a taller cookie) and they were perfect! Thank you for this contribution!

Cranberry Pistachio Biscotti

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2008
Absolutely the best! Perfect biscotti with a wonderful nutty flavor. I tried it with a can of "Pistachio Lovers" Nut mix and it was great! My dad said it was the best he'd ever had and he knows his biscotti!

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2008
I will have to try this again as I'm sure by all the rave reviews that I did something wrong. The sauce was tasty, but there wasn't much of it. It seemed to all get absorbed by the crust and filling. We had to have a large glass of milk or water to even be able to swallow it.

Lebanese Fattoosh

This was GREAT and a big hit with my lunch buddies! One of my friends asked for the recipe. I couldn't find sumac but I did find a nice Mediterranean spice blend that worked nicely. This is a fresh, yummy light dressing that's perfect for summer eating!

Carrot Cake III

Reviewed: May 11, 2008
This cake was just okay. I didn't think it was outstanding at all and was surprised at so many rave reviews. I made some of the changes suggested by other reviewers... applesauce in place of half the oil; brown sugar in place of half the white sugar, crushed pineapple, cinnamon, etc. I still found it to be very average. It is a VERY dense cake and maybe that was part of what I didn't care for. I was looking for something a bit lighter. I took it to work for a birthday and it did get rave reviews and it was gone really quickly, so maybe it was just my taste.
