Sparkling Holiday Jam

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2010
Even though it is nowhere near the holidays (unless you count Indipendence Day!), I just finished making this with fresh strawberries. I used a little less sugar (about 4 pounds plus 1 cup), but even before it cooled we spread some on bread with butter, and it was set up very nicely. We are looking foreward to it cooling and eating more!

Quick and Easy Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2009
I have made this twice now, and a little different each time. This recipe is a good starter to adjust to your own taste. I especially like how quick it is because I am not very good at planning ahead for dinner!

Ham and Cheese Bowties

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2009
I'm eating this now... I only had macaroni, which is fine. I was hesitant about the mustard, so I only added a small amount. I used 1 pound of ham because 4 ounces didn't seem like enough. I used a different kind of cheese, because it was what I had. It is a hit at our house!

Grandma VanDoren's White Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2009
I LOVE this bread! I make it 2-3 times a month, and each time it dissapears. I have a family of 6, so I like the fact that it makes 3 loaves so there is plenty to go around. I have also used the dough to make cinnamon rolls, and they have come out wonderful as well!

Amish Friendship Chocolate Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2009
I have made this several times now. I don't think that it is quite chocolatey enough. This last time I added 2 T. of cocoa, a cup of chocolate chips, and 3/4 cup of coconut, and used 1/2 oil and 1/2 cup applesauce. I then sprayed my pan with cooking spray and sprinkled more coconut on the bottom of the pan. This prevented it from sticking. It turned out very good.

Honey Wheat Bread II

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2009
The first time I made this I didn't like it much, until I realized that my wheat flour was old. I made it again and it was MUCH better. Always make sure that your wheat flour hasn't been sitting in the cupboard too long!

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2009
I loved how SOFT this bread is. I have tired of the bread machine bread so I started experimenting on some that requires more effort. This was a wonderful find! I didn't change a thing, unlike some of the other reviewers. I'm going to end up gaining back all the weight I just lost if I make this too often!

Grandma Minnie's Old Fashioned Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2008
After realizing I needed to mix the final dough for several minutes for it to become dough, these were very simple to make. They have a wonderful flavor. I rolled them out a little thicker because I like a thick cookie.

Stuffed Pork Chops I

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2008
These were the most moist pork chops I have ever eaten! A few changes though... Despite being advised not to use sour dough bread in the intro, I did use it because it is what I had on hand. It was wonderful! We had to leave for my daughter's 2nd grade music program when these were done, so I shut off the oven and left them in to keep hot, which may be part of the reason they were so moist and tender. My seasonings were slightly different because I didn't have poultry seasoning (used sage, thyme, salt and pepper) and I use more celery and onions. I also added a can of mushrooms to the stuffing. This is a keeper.

Baking Powder Biscuits

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
After adding extra flour, they patted out onto the counter very nicely. We used them for bicuits and gravy and we enjoyed them better than store-bought by far. They were very simple to make after adding the extra flour, and didn't take very long. I won't be buying biscuits anymore.

This is a huge hit at our house. It is much more moist than most.
