About this Cook
My mom instilled a love of cooking in me and taught me almost everything I know... Whatever did not come from her, I learned on the Food Network TV and reading cookbooks in my spare time.
My favorite things to cook
Healthy banana bread with additions such as flax, oat bran, extra dark chocolate chips for antioxidants, etc.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Growing up there was always fresh baking in our home. Another tradition, big Friday night family dinners weekly.
My cooking triumphs
Personally I consider one of my best baking endeavours (due to the patience and care involved) making my own cinnamon buns from total scratch, dough and all.
My cooking tragedies
Over-salting my food to an embarrassing extent accidentaly on a first date. Didn't work out too badly, though! He still came back for more, and is now my husband.

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Muffins
I made these according to the recipe (except omitted the sugar topping), and though they were a little dry, they had great flavor (and personally, I enjoyed a the crumbliness). I will make these again.

Banana Oat Muffins
I used 1 cup of whole wheat flour and 1/2 cup of white flour; 1/4 cup unsalted butter with 2 tbsp. apple sauce INSTEAD of the oil (ran out of canola oil); added 1/2 cup of mini-chocolate chips; added 1/2 cup chopped pecan pieces -- which gave them the perfect touch of crunch -- these were simply the best!

Classic Bran Muffins
I thought these were wonderful - light and fluffy inside with a nice crisp top... but I would cut down on the sugar ever so slightly next time (personal taste).
