About this Cook
I'm a young, married woman with a 3 year old boy. We're a busy family, but I try to keep dinner homemade and sans the MSG.
My favorite things to cook
Potatoes! What wonderful little starchy things! Pasta, beef, turkey, rice. There's a killer recipe on this site for a Greek pasta salad that has cukes, olives, tomatoes, roasted red peppers and other yummy stuff and no pre-made salad dressing (it's not hard to mix olive oil, vinegar, and spices). I make it at least once a month.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family has some strange styles of cooking. They call it French-Canadian, but I think it's just us. We have a turkey stuffing recipe with no bread cubes!
My cooking triumphs
I made the best banana cream pie from the Better Homes & Gardens New Cookbook. Everyone loved it! So I made it again. And I also made a lemon chiffon pie from the same cookbook. It was like lemon filling & meringue got married and had a beautiful little baby pie. :o)
My cooking tragedies
I have yet to make a PERFECTLY smooth pudding. Maybe it's not meant to be.

Peanut Butter Bars VI
These bars were fantastic. I used a recipe for candy bar fudge from better homes & gardens and spread it over the top. Tastes like a homemade Butterfinger. =D

Green Bean and Potato Casserole
The husband loved it, so did I...and our kid ate it because we made him. I only used half of the cheese because it's all I had, but now I can't imagine having used a whole pound. It's super greasy, but delicious. For the heck of it, I added a little extra cheese on top with some crumbled crispy bacon. I'm sure the leftovers won't last long. I might even put bread crumbs on top next time like another user had done.
