Easy Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2013
I was skeptical. I had never made cookies out of such crumbly dough before, but I gave it a shot. This recipe appealed to me because i wouldn't have to cut out cookies.(i hate that about sugar cookies). I needed a larger flatter cookie for decorating so i rolled large balls and then slightly flattened them. They came out large and relatively flat with just enough chew to them. A definite keeper for the recipe box. Have a mentioned how much i hate rolling out cookies? Try it. The dough may seem off, but its moldable like playdough. You won't be disappointed.

Basic Brine for Smoking Meat

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2012
I was in a hurry so i used the recipe as is, no additions, for a boston butt and 10lbs of chicken leg quarters. I was impressed. It came out the same as if i had used tons of ingredients. I'm not going to spend time online looking up complicated brine recipes anymore. THanks for a great go-to recipe! This one is going into my "everyday" recipe book. It will be used frequently.

Hearty Pasta Tomato Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2012
5 stars! this made such a huge batch i invited my sister and her kids over for dinner. They all like it and they are picky. I didn't make any major changes really. I added celery because i had some to be used up and i doubled the pasta. I was worried about the zucchini because we don't eat it, but it disappeared into nothing in the crockpot.(i chunked it into small pieces). I'm definately going to make this again when the menfolk are home. I think they would enjoy it also. Thanks alot for a yummy meal last night!

Grandma's Tomato Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2012
I grew up on Cambells and this is a nice homemade replica. I doubled the recipe and the bottle of tomato juice i bought had 8 cups in it. I just threw the half empty bottle in the freezer for a quick thaw next time i make this. This will become a staple in my house. We love tomato soup.

Hot Buttered Rum Batter

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2012
So yummy, but in my family, either you loved it or hated it. I halved the recipe.. My only real complaint was the spices would sink to the bottom of the mug so the last few sips were pretty nasty.

Mother's Ham Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2012
First off, I was able to make this ENTIRE dish in one oven proof skillet. I sauted the vegetables till done then added flour and followed recipe directions from there. topped the skillet with breadcrumbs and threw it in the oven. No reason this meal needed 4 pans. That being said this was a pretty good dish. Very comforting and filling, but nothing special, although very versatile. Next time i might add mixed vegetables or broccoli. It can be as fancy or as plain as you like. ( i doubled the amounts of listed vegetables and sliced the potates instead of cubing them)

Irish Cream Bundt Cake

Delicious, but I think the ingredients speak for themselves. it was an expensive recipe, especially if you use Baileys. Everyone thought it was very decadent and rich. Thanks for a great recipe.

Hot Cocoa Mix in a Jar

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2011
Store bought mixes seem sickly sweet after making this. I followed reviewers and used the chocolate creamer and the great value brand choclate milk mix. I gave out a few jars for christmas along side a batch of homemade peppermint marshmallows. It was a hit there and here!

The kids loved this. Take it off the heat a little earlier than you think. It continues to thicken as it cools.

Fruit Salad

I grew up eating this and in my heart it isn't a holiday unless fruit salad is served. We add a Lot more fruit though. Cut up apples and bannas, mandarin oranges. WE put everything in it. In addition to pecans, my mom always added a splash of wild turkey or crown royal to the batch.

Parmesan Potatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2010
very good. I omitted the butter and used a few tbsp of olive oil to coat the potatoes. I cut back the flour to a couple of tbsp and added a few things, like salt pepper garlic and onion power and cooked on a baking stone. I will make these often.

Grilled Chicken with Herbs

Very good for a healthy grilled dish. We used bone in leg quarters and we slow cooked them. The marinade smelled better than the dish actually tasted though.
