Texas Sheet Cake VI

Reviewed: May 3, 2008
This recipe is good. I could taste the coffee and did not feel it belonged. I also tried the reviewer's suggestion of cinnamon, maybe 1/2 tsp. would be better than 1 tsp. Over all, people liked it.

Mandarin Chicken Salad

Reviewed: May 9, 2008
This was oringinally made by Kathy Alred. It called for Heavy whipping cream, I substituted cool whip. I used sliced almonds. Use as many red grapes as you like..really good.

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: May 10, 2008
Used regular size chocolate chips. Used coffee instead of warm water. Used 1/2 cup of oil and 1/2 cup of milk. 9 x 13 pan for 50 min. Make sure when you test for doneness, you do not hit a warm wet chocolate chip and keep baking. Super easy and very good.

Made it as the recipe called for. The family was not impressed. Would have preferred tacos.

Very good. Kids loved them. Made using baking powder, salt and vanilla as recommended by others. Also, used white chocolate pudding. Not sure I could taste pudding.

Lemon Cheese Bars

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2008
There are much better recipes. I really did not like the box cake mix with oil and an egg. I used lemon cake mix. I used a real lemon and zest. It was dry. It tasted lemony. Can do much better from scratch.

Chocolate Italian Cream Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2008
It was too dry. Couldn't really taste the coconut or pecans. The icing really benefited from 3 ounces of additional semisweet bakers chocolate melted. Would look for another recipe.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2009
You can always mess around with a recipe, it's fun to customize. This recipe is very good as written. Don't waste the opportunity to make 3 loaves. They get eaten quickly. You can always freeze or give away a treat.

Really like these. I really like the pistachios in this. Adds color. Dip one end in white chocolate for more color and flavor. Goes great with morning coffee:)

Sherman Family's Favorite Chocolate Frosting

Really very good. Can use milk but do not. Use buttermilk. Make it if you need to. Use 1 Tablespoon lemon juice and enough milk to make one cup. You can use the extra buttermilk in pancakes etc.

I really love having all the ingredients on hand. No going to the store. Buttermilk=1 T lemon juice + milk to = 1 cup. Always have left over coffee in the morning. Really good even without icing. Tender, moist, and flavorful. Made it in 9x13 pan. Nice recipe!

Dad's Asian Slaw

Reviewed: May 25, 2010
Made as written. Loved it. The ramen noodles really should be added with the liquid and seasonings as stated. If you want "crunchy" add some of the toasted almonds and sunflower kernals just before serving.

Old Fashioned Potato Salad

Reviewed: May 29, 2010
Made as written, very good! I think the potatoes were a little under cooked. I like them firm, but they were a bit under cooked. The picture looks like a white dressing, it is yellow. Will make again with a little more mayo.
