I am a child of God,a wife, mother, grandmother (to 17 so far),daugter,sister,aunt,friend,... I love to cook everything from everyday meals to holiday meals to desserts. I started cooking at an early age. My mother cooked from scratch and taught me well.I was cooking entire meals from scratch around the age of 11. Now that I am a homemaker I have more time to experiment with new recipes. I really enjoys making sweets but have had to cut way back on making them due to a change in our diet. I still make them during hoildays though.
My favorite things to cook
Holiday dinners, desserts and just everyday meals.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love making candy at Christmas.
My cooking triumphs
All cooking is a triumph as long as it is enjoyed.
My cooking tragedies
When I was young I popped some popcorn (the old fashioned way in a pot on the stove). I didn't want to make a mess dumping it from the pot into a bowl so I put a plastic bowl on top of the pot and turned the pot over to dump the popcorn out. Little did I know the plastic bowl would melt onto to pot. Well this happened to be the pot my mama used a lot. I knew I was going to be in big trouble. I put the pot in a paper grocery bag. There was an old house next door and I took that bag and threw it under that old house. I didn't know that the man that owned the house was fixing it up to rent. He was under the house doing some work and found the bag with the pot in it. He was talking to my parents about the same time and told them about finding the pot. Mama told him she was missing a pot. Well mama got her pot back and I got into trouble anyway. My mother still has that pot now 40 years later. That melted plastic popped right off after it cooled. My mama and daddy still laugh about it today.
