Eggnog Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2010
Liked the recipe, not the directions. Fudge has to be brought to temperature (138* for soft ball) or it won't set. I used the quantities but brought it to 138* before adding the last ingredients. Turned out perfect but needs more nutmeg, the primary flavoring for eggnog. I also sprinkled freshly grated nutmeg on top. Yes, it's sweet, it's supposed to be, it's CANDY. Thanks for the recipe.

Ranch Dressing II

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2010
LOVE this recipe! Perfect blend of herbs and spices as is, I did however add some MSG (yeah, I know, not politically correct, but I have read the studies, and it tastes GOOD). I didn't have sour cream but look forward to using it next time as just mayo is really too thick. I used it in a pasta salad and everyone loved it and cleaned their plates.

Chow Mein Noodle Cookie

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2010
Made these today for Easter, but had to double the amount of chow mein noodles(5oz. was just not enuf for 3 cups of chips) and added 2 tsp. coconut oil when the chips started to seize up in the double boiler. I formed the clusters into nests and put jelly beans in the center. They were just too cute and everyone loved them.

Poppy Seed Cookies III

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2008
I've made these cookies for a coupla yrs now and I love them! I think my recipe came from 'Taste of Home" magazine and it doesn't have the yogurt. To make them more festive, roll the logs in colored sugar, prior to slicing. Red looks very good.

Chocolate Pecan Pie III

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2008
Made this for Thanksgiving and it was a hit. Only changes I made were to use real butter plus another cup of pecans, 1 seemed too skimpy. I also used xtra dark cocoa and while the flavor was good, it was toooo black, next time I'll use the regular. Thank you, Ruth for this recipe, I SO prefer the flavor of cocoa over chocolate chips.

Sour Cream Pound Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2008
Excellent flavor overall, texture is perfectly fine-grained and dense, just as it should be. I only used 1 cup sugar and added 1/8 tsp salt and 2 tsp good vanilla extract. I baked it in a 6 cup bundt cake pan and it raised over the top a good inch but didn't flow over, just scared me to death. I can imagine what it would have done in a 8x4 loaf pan with the additional sugar!

Pumpkin Gingerbread

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2008
****This was a hit with my family BUT I MADE CHANGES-reduced sugar from 3 cups to 1 1/2 cups, added 1/2 cup molasses, also cut water to 1/3 cup and added raisins. Cooked it in a bundt pan for 1hr 15 min @ 350. It looked wonderful. Served it with a Lemon Sauce(for company) but it was good on it's own and plenty sweet.

Fried Rice I

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2008
I've had this recipe for yrs and LOVE it! My recipe called for leftover cold rice and it works better than fresh(to me). You can add almost anything u wish and get good results. I love leftover grilled/bbq'd pork or chicken added in strips, the smoky flavor meets the bacon and parties in your mouth. Leftover or fresh veggies work, too. I like crisp-cooked frozen mixed veg. added last. This is one of those "bomb proof" recipes, make it your own. A dash of toasted sesame oil, chili flakes or oil. I'm so glad I saw this, it's time to make it again.
