Chocolate Peanut Butter Smoothie

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2010
I think this smoothie is great, well, since it is my recipe. If the ice is not blending, it is okay to add more milk to move it along. I'm sure vanilla pudding would be good too, or simply Nesquick powder. 3 tablespoons of peanut butter may or may not be too much, according to your tastes. Usually, I don't even measure, I just glop it in.

Tina's Fruit Dip

This wasn't bad, but it's not something I will make all the time. It was a nice change for fruit.

Maple Dill Carrots

Reviewed: May 1, 2009
I did NOT like this. Maybe it was the brown sugar/dill combination, I'm not sure. It just was not appetizing to me. My mom liked this, however, so maybe that's why others do too. Thanks anyway.

Really good with some garlic powder, a little curry powder, onion powder, and lemon pepper. Delicious with some rice!

Byrdhouse Dream Salad Dressing

I did not like this at all. I think it may have been the taste of the sesame oil that ruined it for me. Sorry.

Kettle Corn

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2009
Okay, so this recipe took some practice. Once I got the hang of it, I ended up with wonderful kettle corn!!! Like the other reviews, I do the three-kernel test. Once those 3 have popped, I add the kernels and the sugar together. I stir that once or twice so there aren't any clumps, and I leave the pan on the burner until the popcorn has started popping really well. After that, I do the 5 second on, 5 second off bit that was mentioned in another review. This popcorn is really easy to burn, and it may take some practice, but the end result is soooo worth it!!!

BBQ Glazed Homemade Meatballs

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2009
I was so excited for these, and then I was so disappointed! I used 2.25 lbs. of ground beef, and I adjusted the recipe to fit that amount. When I was mixing the ingredients, I noticed the first problem. After I added the evaporated milk (10 oz. I think) the meat mixture was VERY moist. It was so moist that when I formed the balls, I did not think they were going to keep their shape when I began cooking. I believe this recipe should say to add the milk until the mixture is slightly moist, which may or may not require all of the milk. It definitely would not for me! Well, I decided to keep going with the recipe since I used so much meat and did not want to waste any. So then, per one reviewer, I decided to put the meatballs in the crockpot. The reviewer mixed some water with the sauce, and I did the same. BAD IDEA. The already VERY moist meatballs were now soaking in watery sauce! Next, after having my roommates turn off the crockpot for a time, I decided to just forget the crockpot and put the meatballs in the oven. I think this is what salvaged them, at least a little. I poured off the liquid and put them in there for about 40 minutes or so. When I tasted the meatballs, the ones that didn't turn to mush, they were very very moist, too moist, but I now know how to fix that. Also, despite the water, the sauce was really sweet(I even halved it!)! I might try this recipe again when I want some meatballs, but I will not use the sauce again.

Broccoli, Rice, Cheese, and Chicken Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2009
I took the advice of the first reviewer, except that I used one 8 oz. package of cheese, two cans of cream of chicken soup, and a package of onion soup mix. In the future, I would use less onion soup mix or just onion powder. The soup could almost be cut back as well. I used the canned chicken, and while the canned taste was masked, I'm sure regular chicken or rotisserie chicken would be better. I topped the casserole with crumbled ritz crackers with some of the butter on them. Not bad for a spring picnic/potluck.

Black Bean Brownies

These had a really rich, chocolate-y taste, but the texture was off. The texture was somewhat grainy and left a weird film in your mouth after eating. Not bad though.

Beef Nacho Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2009
This was good. I added homemade salsa, a can of black beans, and sour cream instead of mayo. I also added half a taco packet to the ground beef. I did not have many tortilla chips, but I think more would add a nice crunchy taste. Thanks for the recipe!

Onion lovers will enjoy this dish! It's easy, and it tastes pretty good. Not something I would serve to impress guests though. Decent side dish though.

D's Famous Salsa

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2009
The first time I made this recipe, I tried to use fresh tomatoes. I added the cilantro first, and I had added way too much! I learned quickly that a little goes a loooong way! I tried to add some sugar and more tomatoes to compensate for this error, but it did not work and resulted in an overly sweet, cilantro mess! Well, I tried this again, using the canned tomatoes, and VERY light cilantro. MUCH better. I will keep trying to make this without canned tomatoes, I think this will be PERFECT salsa. Thanks!

Empanadas

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2009
These are delicious! I put the dough in the freezer for a half an hour, and this worked fine. I had to work quickly though! I added 1/4 cup of sugar to the dough. The only problem with these was assembly. I kept filling mine too full! Practice will fix this problem though. Great with ice cream!

Quick Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2009
This recipe deserves five stars for simplicity. As a one-pot meal that takes about 30 minutes max, it doesn't get any better than this. I used canned chicken, frozen peas, carrots, green beans, and corn from a big. Great flavor, cheap, and easy.

Cookie Balls

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2009
Okay, so I misread the recipe on this one, but they still turned out pretty good. Instead of reading that the recipe called for cream cheese, I read cream cheese FROSTING. I suppose I associated these with cake balls, another recipe on this site. The balls had a great taste still, even with melted white chocolate chips instead of bark (the store was out). Next time, I will make these with actual cream cheese, and hopefully they will be better/more sophisticated.

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2009
This recipe was awesome. I made it by hand instead of the bread machine, and it was FANTASTIC. The first time I used the cream cheese icing on here, and I felt that it overpowered the rolls. The second time I made these, I used just a regular icing from another recipe, and they were PERFECT.

Impossibly Easy Cheeseburger Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2009
I will not be making this again. I think the Taco Pie on this site would have a lot more flavor than this recipe. Also, I made this in a casserole dish instead of a pie pan, and I think the pie pan would work better so that the "bread" topping would be thicker. I thought it was a really eggy topping, so I would add a little bit more bisquik. I also added a can of corn. Definitely needs some work to taste better.
