Best Ever Banana Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2013
Yes, I think this will be my new standby. I made it exactly as the recipe specified and while it is delicious and amazingly moist, it is too sweet, even for my sweet tooth. Next time I will cut back on the sugar and - what the heck - may as well toss in a 1/2 tsp of vanilla while I'm revising a little. I made my "buttermilk" by adding 1/3 tsp of white vinegar to 1/3 c milk and let it sit for 5 mins. I am very grateful for this recipe as I have been looking for a long time for "the one". Thank you!

Slow-Cooker Pepper Steak

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2010
Delicious! I always start my crock pot dishes later than I should so I end up cooking everything on high. I did this one on high for 3 hours and it was perfect. Highly recommend.

Spicy Beef Vegetable Stew

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2010
This soup (yes, I think it's soup) is just loaded with flavour and is absolutely delicious! I found it a little more spicy than I normally like but I do have a low tolerance for spicy foods. My husband, on the other hand, loves spicy food and says this is definitely one to add to the regular rotation.

Absolutely the Best Nacho Dip Ever

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2009
I made a couple of modifications to the recipe based on what I had on hand (used black olives instead of lettuce, for instance.) The only trouble I had with this is that I... you know... couldn't stop eating it. The cocktail sauce is a nice touch.

Amish Breakfast Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2009
I made this casserole for Christmas morning guests and it was a hit! I followed the recipe exactly except that I had the small cubed hashbrowns instead of shredded. I love potatoes so you can't go wrong as far as I'm concerned, however, I'll try shredded next time just to see what the texture difference would be like. I have to echo what a few other reviewers have mentioned: this is the breakfast casserole recipe I've been looking for. Delish!

Make Ahead Breakfast Casserole

I made this casserole for Christmas morning and it was a big hit! Had a few requests for the recipe. We added a pound of bacon also. It had TONS of flavour. Highly recommended!

Chocolate Chip Cookies for Special Diets

Reviewed: May 2, 2001
Wow... these cookies are TRULY excellent. What a find! Make sure you flatten them on the cookie sheet, though, as they don't spread out like cookies made with sugar. I use Splenda as my sweetener, and there is virtually no aftertaste.

Special Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2001
This was my first attempt at sugar-free baking and I must say I was slightly disappointed, simply because I was hoping this recipe would be like any other oatmeal cookie recipe and it's not. Not exactly. The cookies are tasty, but I was surprised by their lack of colour. I used extra-large eggs and I think that made the cookies too thick and cakey. I'll cut back on the egg whites next time. Also, I did not include the raisins as they make a significant difference on the carbohydrate count, however, I think they would have contributed a great deal to the flavour of the cookies. The recipe was very easy and fairly quick. Not sure whether they're kid-friendly or not. Substituting sugar is clearly a tricky business!
