Aunt Norma's Rhubarb Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2013
I eliminated the oil and buttermilk, and substituted Greek vanilla yogurt. They turned out great! My mother makes rhubarb sauce (just like apple sauce but with rhubarb)--next time, I'll use some of that with the yogurt to give the cake part of the muffin a little more rhubarb flavor. Yum! My husband ate 5 right out of the oven. Like other raters, I didn't use nuts in my recipe--they didn't need any.

Stuffed Bell Peppers

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2012
I used 1 lb of ground beef for 4 peppers, as well as a half can of meat-loaf-tomato-sauce. They turned out well. Next time, I'm adding a little cheese to my beef/rice/onion mix for extra flavor. Tasted great--we're not vegetarians, so these modifications worked for us!

Baked French Fries I

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2012
These are a quick favorite of mine--they are way better than those frozen fries and just as easy! YUM!

Grilled Garlic Parmesan Zucchini

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2012
Not bad--I think I used too much butter, though. I'll try it again, but barely brush it this time.

Chicken Milano

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2012
Yum! Made this tonight and it was phenomenal! I served prosciutto over cantaloupe slices as an appetizer, poured some white wine, and we felt like we were in Italy!

Slow Cooker Blackberry Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2012
Yum! This was an easy and really impressive meal! My husband ate so much and requested to have it again when he returns from his business trip! I would recommend to use the juice from the meat--it is already there for you and tastes so good! Next time, I will use it to make a gravy and just make a little of the red wine reduction sauce with fresh berries. The berries definitely added to the flavor, so I won't skip them!

Christmas Cauliflower

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2012
I made this for a family Christmas. I thought it tasted OK...but, at the end of the meal, most of it was leftover. It didn't have a lot of the flavor I was hoping for. I probably won't make it again.

Almond Toffee Bark

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2011
So good! I followed someone's advice and used light brown sugar and baking soda instead of sugar and salt. It turned out perfectly! Also, I went out and bought a candy thermometer--so glad I did! I wouldn't have thought it would take that long to get to the right boil. I'll be making this again and again! I am only giving this recipe 3 stars since I altered it and didn't really make it as is.

Butternut and Acorn Squash Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2011
Yum! I took someone's advice about sauteing lemongrass/ginger/garlic before adding a can of coconut milk. I put 2T of curry spice, some dried basil and a dash of cumin into the coconut milk mix, let it simmer a little, then added the squash. Yum!

Cherry Pie IV

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2011
Overall this was a great recipe. I used canned sour cherries (in water) and followed the recipe exactly. It was really sweet--too sweet for my taste. I used it with the Best Ever Pie Crust recipe, but might try a different crust if I make it again.

Mrs. Sigg's Fresh Pumpkin Pie

Iced Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2011
I liked the flavor of the cookie, but hated the glaze on it. The first batch absorbed the glaze completely making the cookie too soggy. The second batch fared slightly better, but I like them far better without any glaze. At my house, we call these "cake-ies" because they are like little servings of pumpkin cake! Not bad, but not my favorite.

Best Ever Pie Crust

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2011
Perfect crust every time. It is so easy! I rolled it out between plastic wrap and even cut strips for the lattice with kitchen sheers while the dough was between the wrap. So fast, so easy. Great after having been frozen, as well.

I have made this recipe twice and got raving reviews! I now have a new "job" for Thanksgiving dinner with my family--bring the pie! Will definitely use it again and again. I used the Best Ever Pie Crust recipe on this site. Also, a 5 star review!

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2011
I have made these three times already! I love the chewy/crunchiness of this cookie. I didn't change the recipe at all yet (with 5 star results) but want to experiment with reducing the amount of butter and shortening used without compromising the chewy/crunchy texture.

Bulgogi (Korean Barbecued Beef)

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2011
Great recipe! I spent time living in South Korea and this bulgogi tasted so authentic. I used lean roast meat and had the butcher slice it into really thin pieces. I don't have a grill, so I cooked the meat and marinade in a wok instead. Served it up with steamed broccoli and some white rice--yum!
