I am a housewife and mom. When I lived in Central Asia, I had to learn to make everything from scratch and still do now! Living there was probably the best learning experience for me, from language, to cooking, to everything else!
My favorite things to cook
Bread, cakes, cookies, Central Asian dishes, Italian meals (Lasagna is yummy....)
My favorite family cooking traditions
I used to make tamales with my mom every year for New Years.
I am the baker in my extended family and make the bread and pies for the holidays. Thanksgiving has always been a HUGE holiday for my family and all the gals cook a feast!
My cooking triumphs
For my 24th birthday, I was in Central Asia. Everything had to be cooked from scratch and I had a big party (20-30 guests). I made a delicious chicken spaghetti with garlic bread and other side dishes. I consider it a triumph because it was when the man i eventually married fell in love with my cooking!
My cooking tragedies
Once while making cookies with my niece, we ran out of flour. My sis had some in her freezer so I grabbed it and started mixing. My niece was eating the cookie dough when i realized that it was gray. I looked at the "flour" and realized that it was plaster paris! My sis had mixed up two children's kits and put the flour with the jewelry making kit! My niece was fine by the way.
