About this Cook
Small town, pretty much redneck, gal raising Paint horses (and kids). I'm a courtroom clerk to supplement my habit of horses and my husband works for our local gold mine. When we have time out from horses and kids (which isn't that often) we're wannabe chefs!
My favorite things to cook
Good thing we are active folks because we haven't gotten into the lo-carb, lo-fat, no salt idea of cooking. I guess when we pass, we'll have happy tummies anyway! My husband's the bread making/meat cooking guy... always trying different seasoning and 'ideas' with marinades, etc. I love to create different salads, particularly pasta, stir fry, and "throw things together" when we have umpteen extra teenagers in the house.
My favorite family cooking traditions
ANY time my husband and I can get a minute from horses, kids, farming, work, etc., we "create" new dishes... alot of the time they're great, um sometimes not. But we DO have alot of fun anyway!
My cooking triumphs
Our best triumph is our lasagna that we work together on... we never know quite what we're going to end up with at the end but somehow it always is "the best lasagna we've ever tasted". We usually make an extra casserole dish of it to take up to the mine for the guys at lunch time, and they just love it. My 'masterpieces' usually involve my 'dressings' I put in my assorted salads (pasta/potato type). Rob is an excellent baker and makes a onion bread to die for!
My cooking tragedies
Our first attempts at making perogies (sp?) Granted, after 5 HOURS we had really yummy perogies, but, MAN, what a chore! Since then we bought a pasta machine to help with rolling the dough so that cut off about 3 hrs. of 'WORK'.

Baked Teriyaki Chicken
EXCELLENT recipe!! I doubled the sauce, too, and just let it bake in the sauce. This sauce works wonderful with pork as well!! Definitely a 5-star!!

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup
I make this soup so much that my husband is almost sick of it! :) This is one of my favorite dinners to make and eat EVER! I double the recipe every time, and tripple the sauce. But thats just because we like our soups with a lot of 'broth'. This is an amazing recipe, and I am making it tonight again with anther recipe from allrecipes, Chicken Cordon BleuII!

Shrimp Lemon Pepper Linguini
This recipe is amazing! My friend makes it quite often at my house and its amazing! Very lemony thought, But just perfect! We doubled the recipe but NOT the pepper. It was very very spicy the first time we made it and doubled the recipe. So this time we just didnt double the pepper.
