Easy Pizza Sauce III

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2009
This sauce was amazing as a base to cook meatballs. I made the sauce exactly to specifications and added 2 cups of chicken broth and let simmer for 30 minutes. While it was simmering, I made meatballs and dropped them in the sauce, turned up the heat, and cooked them right in it. After all that, I served it over pasta with some parmesan and it was devoured. Great recipe and really, really simple yet diverse.

Cherry Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: May 6, 2009
YUMMY. I am not a big cake eater, but I definitley liked this one. I don't think the cake was too moist as other's have commented. I think it was near perfect with the added pie filling. I topped it with the cream cheese/brown sugar icing found from the Chocolate Torte recipe elsewhere on this site and then topped that with maraschino cherries. Very good.

Slow Cooker Dump and Go Cheesy Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2009
Giving this 5 stars as a good base recipe. Like other reviewers I changed the soup mix and seasonings. Fixed it today for lunch in the slow cooker and cooked it for 5 hours on high. Chicken came out falling apart. The soup mix was good, but I will add more spice next time. Served it over rice and broccoli and the meal was good with a side salad.

Chocolate Torte

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2009
This is good for a simple cake mix. The icing is what makes the dessert. I am not a baker nor a cake eater, but it turned out good for my wife's family who loves dessert.

Chili Rellenos Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2009
This recipe is a keeper with some modification: I used Anaheim chilies and charred them under the broiler and removed the skin instead of using the canned chilies. I also added hamburger meat cooked with 1 jalepeno, seeded, 1/4 c. onion, and 1/4 c. bell pepper, chopped and added taco seasoning to the mix. Topped with enchilada sauce like over reviewers instead of tomato sauce. Family loved it because it wasn't too spicy but had lots of taste.

Classic Goulash

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2011
First, this is a great meal. Second, I have to admit I did not make it as stated in the recipe. I used 1/2 onion, added beef boullion cubes to the water, skipped the salt, and used worchestershire sauce in place of soy sauce. I used one can each of the tomato sauce and diced tomatoes and added a can of kidney beans. I also skipped the bay leaves and used a little more than one cup of macaroni. Definitely will make again, but will add a little more liquid next time.

Shrimp and Mushroom Linguini with Creamy Cheese Herb Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2009
This was awesome. I am not a big cream based sauce fan, but this was fantastic. I cooked it a little different after reading some other reviews to include adding a few dashes of black pepper, evaporated milk and chicken broth in lieu of the water, and added more shrimp than called for. This will become a regular dish at our meal table.

Country Scalloped Potatoes

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2009
This is a very good rendition of scalloped potatoes. I followed the recipe, but my potatoes still came out undercooked, so next time I will raise my oven temperature and cook a little longer. Still liked the taste and texture of cooking these instead of buying a box mix.

Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2009
This is the greatest chicken tortilla soup recipe in the world. Made it for lunch today and it was the BEST. My wife kept going on and on about it. Seemed niether one of us could get enough. Think I am making it again for a church social coming up. Took me all of about 10 minutes to put it together in the crock pot b/c I used frozen chicken breast and canned corn. It's the BEST (Can't say that enough!!). Seasoning was perfect with a larger can of enchilada sauce. Not too hot and not too bland. JUST THE BEST!!!!

Shrimp Scampi Bake

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2009
I thought the recipe was good, but it lacked a little zest for us at the dinner table. I think next time I will reduce the butter as other reviewers suggested and may add a dash of garlic salt along with the garlic. Other than that I thought it was good, but not the greatest shrimp scampi I have ever had, thus only 4 stars for me.

Garlic Cheese Chicken Rollups

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2009
This was a very tasty dish and pretty easy to make. I used cream cheese mixed with garlic as I did not have the cheese mix recommended within the recipe. I would have rated this a 5, but didn't enjoy the cream cheese filling. Will keep the recipe but substitute another cheese next time. Served this covered with the Chunky Marinara Sauce found elsewhere on this site and the combination was very filling.

Chunky Marinara Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2009
First time was a success. Served this over the Garlic Cheese Chicken Rollups found elsewhere on this site. This sauce was a perfect complement to the chicken. Added another dash of oregano just for a stonger taste and increased the sugar by another 1/2 tsp to flavor the sauce. I don't like sweet marinara sauces and this is nowhere close to that. Definitely a keeper in the recipe box.
