Rhubarb Sour Cream Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2008
I love this pie. I've always liked rhubarb pie, but this one is my favorite! I have added some fresh rasberry filling to it sometimes which is wonderful too, but this recipe is one of my keepers.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: May 2, 2009
This is one of my new classic recipes, replacing the old banana bread recipe in the file. Great banana flavor and simple-I have everything I need to make it every time.

Beer Butt Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2009
This is a great way to "roast" a chicken and keep it moist and flavorful while getting that wonderful browned skin all over the bird. I found that 3 hours on our grill was a little long, usually 2 is sufficient and I used Lawry's season salt instead of the other seasonings and only a half a stick of butter(basting about every 30 minutes). I also love adding fresh herbs to the beer (rosemary especially because the scent permeates the whole chicken). I plan to try this in the oven after reading the other reviews. Wonderful recipe that never disappoints.

Crackle Top Molasses Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2009
This is the recipe I used for molasses cookies. Just the right sweet moist crispiness and they freeze well for later too.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2009
This is "my" potato soup. It's never failed to be creamy and flavorful. It also is very versatile, take the basic soup and tweek it a little...add some cheese, or sour cream, cook a ham bone to make the stock instead of using boullion. It's a great basic recipe.

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2010
This is the one that fits my idea of what a banana muffin should be. Just the right moistness and the banana flavor really comes through. Sometimes I skip the streusel topping when I'm in a hurry and just sprinkle a little brown sugar. This recipe is a keeper.

Quick and Easy Grilled Potatoes

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2012
Perfect. I love not having to worry about when/if the potato is done and then trying to time that to coincide with everything else. This takes all the guess work out and leaves nothing but grilled, smoky crispy baked potatoes to enjoy.

Peppermint Pinwheels

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2009
These cookies are very pretty and freeze well for cookie trays which fits my busy holiday season well. The taste is very much like a simple shortbread cookie with just a hint of peppermint. On their own they wouldn't be my first choice for a cookie (think something much more decadent) but they are a nice sweet simple taste that are a litte departure from all the other super rich treats during the holiday season.

Zucchini Bars

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2009
I followed the recipe for the bars to the letter and found the result dissapointing. It had to bake for at least 15 minutes more than what was called for to be done in the center and even then they fell. I'm thinking maybe I didn't get enough water out of the zucchini? too much oil in the recipe? or a bar pan rather than the 9x13 recommended in the recipe would be the fix for this. I will probably just explore for another bar recipe...I have enough zucchini to perform quite a few expirements until I find the one that works.
