Quick and Easy Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2009
It was good, but I think I may have cooked it too long. My oven settings seem to be off quite a bit (an old stove). I made two mexican pizzas; I added fresh cilantro and fresh garlic to one, and the other I added taco spices. My kids loved them and my oldest daughter said that every pizza place should make this exact pizza. I changed it to five stars because I figured out a way to make the crust very similar to popular chain pizzeria's. I preheat the oven to 350 degrees. I leave about two inches of crust plain all the way around and then I brush olive oil with melted butter on the plain part of the crust, place in oven for about 8-10 minutes. REbrush the plain part of crust and place in oven for another 8-10 minutes. I've done this many times and it works every time.

Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burgers

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2009
Just made these for dinner. TERRIFIC! Best black bean burger recipe by far. Just press the onions and green peppers into the sieve to release the juices. I followed the recipe step by step. I will make again. Yummy.

Baked Sweet Potato Sticks

Great base recipe. Start checking at 30 minutes; for my stove, 40 minutes is too long.

Rich and Creamy Tomato Basil Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2009
I used can diced tomatoes and whole milk. I did not have heavy cream, but everyone loved it and wants it for dinner again tonight. I imagine had I used the ingredients that the recipe called for, my kids would not only be begging for more like they are now, but they may experience withdrawal symptoms. Really a great recipe and a keeper. Thanks. SECOND REVIEW: This time I added per the advice of a reviewer, cooked bacon and bacon grease. FABULOUS! Cooked with the bacon makes this soup very hearty and perfect for a colder weather soup. Both ways are excellent.

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2009
Yum, yum. I was pleasantly surprised at how well this recipe turned out. I lifted the skin and rubbed the spices on the meat and on top of the skin. This was incredibly delicious. The onion in the cavity really added a great flavor to the meat. I will make this again and again. Very good.

Heavenly White Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2009
I've always wanted to make a homemade white cake and I have found the perfect recipe. The texture is somewhere between an angel food cake and a sponge cake. I made a lemon flavored-whipped cream-cream cheese frosting. If you cook it too long then it will be dry like corn bread. Wonderful cake. ADDED TO REVIEW LATER: I made this again, but this time the eggs did not form soft peaks. I think it was because I started adding sugar when the eggs were foamy instead of beginning to peak. But I used it the eggs anyway. I also took the advice of many reviewers and added an additional 1/2 cup of milk. I also use full fat milk. My cake turned out excellent and a tad lighter in texture.

Boilermaker Tailgate Chili

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2009
I made this yesterday. My grocer didn't have any green chilies so I didn't use them. I also used less cayenne because if it was too spicy then my kids wouldn't be able to eat it. This chili was the BOMB! We all loved it and it tastes even more delicious the next day. I will be making this again.

Sturdy Whipped Cream Frosting

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2009
I love this recipe. This is the only frosting I will use for all of my homemade cakes. You can flavor it so many ways, too. I've used it with various food colorings, maple syrup, lemon extract, almond extract, chocolate powder, honey, strawberry jam; of course not all together, but they all turned out great!

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2009
I love this recipe. Very easy to make. I made two pies and froze the other for a quick dinner later on. Just make sure your crust isn't completely thawed before placing on top, otherwise it will break and be difficult to handle.

'Out of Salad Dressing' Salad Dressing

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2009
Excellent base for a creamy dressing. You can add any kind of herbs/spice to this and make it your own. I loved it. I rarely buy dressing as it is, and I probably never will now that I have a recipe to work with.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2009
This was by far the best meat lasagna I have ever had! I have never in my entire life enjoyed a meat lasagna until I made this. I followed the recipe exactly as stated. My husband enjoyed this so much, he even had seconds, which he never does with any lasagnas. My kids also really liked this, too. Thanks for such a wonderful recipe. This will be made again, I'm sure.

Southern Candied Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2009
Just made this tonight for an after dinner dessert. Very good taste and the texture was terrific. I loved how the edges became like a toffee. I had to cook it for about 2 hours before I got the results the recipe was calling for. But that's okay, it was worth the wait and more importantly, my critics (my kids) loved it.

AWESOME! I used ground turkey in place of beef. I trippled the spices and used in place of tomatoe juice, 2 cans of diced tomatoes (undrained). Really, really good recipe.

Five Ingredient Ice Cream

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2008
This is a wonderful alternative to an ice cream maker. I did not deviate from the recipe and it turned out delicious. The recipe is looking for stiff peaks to form when beating ingredients together; when I made this recipe, I never saw the stiff peaks, but it still turned out great. I used frozen blueberries and strawberries. I may never buy ice cream again.

Marshmallow Popcorn Balls

You know, most people that eat these wonderful treats are so surprised that popcorm can be used instead of rice krispies or other types of cereal. I makes these for every party we have or go to and for school activities. These are usually the first treat to disappear among the rest. Another keeper!
