Gramma's Apple Bread Pudding

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
This was delicious! Everyone raved about this dessert. It smelled heavenly while I was baking it. I had it with the vanilla sauce, and it reminded me of the bread pudding which my host mother used to make. I homestayed in an American family when I was studying English in the States. My host mother was a great cook. She blessed me with wonderful American homestyle dishes. I loved everything she made. Anyway, this bread pudding tasted just like her famous bread pudding. :)

It was really delicious. Practically it goes well with anything. I had it with sliced chedder cheese on the crispy bread one day and put it over sauteed salmon on the other day. This recipe is definitely the keeper. (^_^)

Korean Kimchi Jigeh Stew

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2008
I like to make Kimchi jigeh stew, but I always do in a different way. First of all, I add more vegetables, such as carrots, onions, green onions, bean sprouts, mushrooms and tofu. I usually use sliced pork meat or substitute knnyaku (Which is a Japanese vegetarian ingredient) for meat. Then, I taste the soup with Korean spicy paste (e.g. gochu jang) and miso paste. Don't forget adding minced ginger and garlic. This gives a great flavor to the soup.

Figs and Toasted Almonds Brie

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2008
I didn't have brie, so I used camembert instead. We had it with toasted baguettes over our Sunday afternoon gathering. Everyone liked it. However, I'll add more water to make the fig more syrupy when I make it again.

Apple Scones

It was good. You might want to eat with Apple Jam and butter, since scones are not sweet. I had them with cream cheese and honey and they were really good!

I liked it. However, my family didn't eat it and I had to finish most of it myself. It was nice to start a day with the a slice of clafouti.

This recipe was superb. Unlike the other recipe for tortillas those tortillas stayed soft after cooking. And they tasted great as well. Thank you for sharing the recipe.

Banana Muffins I

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2008
I substituted plain yogurt for sour cream. It tasted light. Though my mom said it was the best muffin she'd ever had, it tasted kind of bland for me. I think 2 bananas didin't give enough flavour. Next time I make the muffins, I will use 3 bananas.

Hot and Sour Chinese Eggplant

It tasted just like the one from a Chinese restaurant. I used half amount of chili, since my family isn't a big fun of spicy food. Served with steamed rice and it was really delicious.

Spring Lime Tea Cookies

It tasted better with the lime sugar glaze. I added lime peels in the sugar glaze for emphasizing the flavor. The texture of the cookie was interesting. It was very soft and moist almost like a cake.
